I just bought dishtv hd and installed the most expensive hd package for 550 bucks thinking I will finally enjoy hd movies. But boy was I surprised. the first time over there was problem with the transponder and it won’t work a couple of days after being just installed.
Second, as I surfed through the HD channels there were all but 4 hd channels that were truly hd. Discovery, Natgeo and another hindi music channel recently launched in HD. They had good picture quality and had 5.1 surround sound. But that’s where it all ended. The rest of the 30 odd supposed HD channels had worse quality than a broken cable connection and to top it none of the Movie channels displayed that they were HD in their logo.
when I asked the dish guys calling them at least 50 times, they gave me a run around stating that it’s a potential hardware problem and then moved to a software problem and then said I am not aware of what an HD channel is since it clearly said at the bottom of the screen(a dish pop up when you display what channel it is) that it is Xyz HD channel. The HBO channel sucks in quality. You dont even get Movies now in HD.
