Tata Sky: Best In Money Extortion & Harassment

I have been a TATA Sky customer for about 3 years now. With every passing day their services have gone from bad to worst possible. My most recent experience with TATA Sky has been of money extortion and customer harassment.

Sequence of Events:

  1. My monthly recharge last day is on a Saturday - I have enough account balance to run the TV services for the day

  2. TATA Sky blocks the viewing by putting a full screen blue colored notice "urgent payment reminder". This reminder is designed to occupy entire screen and there is no way to turn it off.

So, even though I have money I cannot TV for entire day - till I pay up TATA sky for next month’s money.

  1. I call up customer care, they say they are helpless and system is designed this way. Only way to view TV is to recharge for the next month.

I was forced to recharge in advance for next month even though my connection was valid for that day.

My open question to people interested in reading this review:

  1. How is this not harassment of customers? TATA sky is extorting money by forcing customers to pay them by blocking entitled services till further payment is made.

  2. How is this not a violation of service contract? TATA Sky is blocking the channel on the last day itself in the pretext of reminding the customer. Customer is not even allowed to decide when they want to go for recharge & have to do everything as per the will of TATA Sky Ltd.

  3. Still one day later TATA Sky levies a penalty of Rs 15/- in the name of late recharge. If they are putting a penalty on customers how are they allowed to black-out all the TV viewing on the last day?

I was forced to recharge and pay-up by TATA sky even though I had valid balance & had purchased TV services for that day. These services are designed only to benefit TATA Sky Ltd. and harass the customers, extort money from them.

This entire ordeal lasted more than 2.5 hours and I am not sure how many of us would like to sign up for such a thing.
