This sad story stated on 27th Jan 2008 when I bought Dish TV from Big Bazaar offer for 999.00 Rs. The sales person was very passionate to sale his stuff. And along with sale he was promising installation within 5 to 7 days. I waited till 3rd Feb and fired a call to their toll free number.
3rd Feb(to toll free @9:30 PM) - call can not be completed as dialed.
3rd Feb(to 044 Chennai STD) - Officer on other end asked VC number, address etc and promised that installation will be done in another 2-3 days. he haven’t given any complaint number.
4th Feb(Got call from DishTV) - Lady on the other end asked if I got DishTV installed. when I answered NO. She just said OK and disconnected.
5th Feb(to toll free @10:30 PM) - call can not be completed as dialed.
5th Feb(to 044 Chennai STD) - Again same information have been asked by officer, and promised installation will be done on next day. This time I was wise to ask Complaint no.
Lot of calls have been happened since 6th Feb to 14th feb and all were very promising for getting installation done by day end or next day.
on 15th Feb. at 02:15 PM officer promised me that technician will be at my home by 3:00 PM. and has given me number of Mr. Purushottam from AV Solutions. The fun part is that this person has barred all incoming calls.
As usual nobody turned up from DishTV till 9:00 PM so again I called and officer promised me that installation will be done on next day. After insisting a lot to talk to his senior he told me that I’ll get call back. and this time they really called back. The only difference between the officer and his senior was little polished English otherwise all the promises are same.
Pretty annoyed by all this I wanted to return the stuff and get my 999 Rs back. For returning the stuff he asked me to mail to customer care and work with them to get refund. But still he was insisting to wait for another day to get it installed and he promised to take personal responsibility of the problem. This senior has provided name of his senior manager and told me that if it doesn’t happen by 16th Feb he’ll provide me direct number of his senior manager. Though I insisted this person neither given his mobile number nor his desk number.
And Like a stu**d I am still calling them to get dishTV installed.
Moral of the story.
1. Do not Buy DishTV.
2. If you decided to buy it then at the moment you bought it call them and get complaint number.
3. Keep in mind that you don’t have Easy option to return the stuff you bought.
4. Do not get annoyed with the call center officer. He/she is a parrot and talks only what is taught to them.
5. At the 3rd call try to get their senior involved.
6. Do no try to call AV solutions Bangalore, either their phone will be busy or they won’t have power in their office.
7. Also they don’t accept some money for faster installation.(Like BSNL line-men do)
I don’t know what Woo’s I need to face after getting it installed.

Well done. after lot of followup Dish TV got installed on 18th Feb 2008 and started showing up all he channels. Since I got 7 days free preview I should get all the channels. Technicians were insisting to buy some package, but I denied(I wanted to see it first and thn buy). Everything gone well till 24th Feb all channels were shown. On 25th I was getting only FTA(DD-Direct) channels.
New story started on 29th Feb 2008, when I switched on TV. it was asking me to contact customer care for all the channels(including FTA). As a obidient kid I called them to ask why they disconnected my FTA channels. the answer was I need to pay 262 Rs to get all FTA and 2 paid channels. I went to TRAI site and searched on interoperability for DTH STB. Article 7 of DTH Guidelines say that
"7.1 The Open Architecture(non-proprietary) Set Top Box, which will ensure technical compatibility and effective interoperability among different DTH service providers, shall have such specifications as laid down by the Government from time to time. "
Which is not followed by DishTV. when I told this thing to CustomerCare they just disconneted the phone. So I am now at loss of 999.00 Rs. So guys, Think 999 times before going for DishTV. Your cable Guy is much more better than those cheaters on phone.
