I have used only DishTV and Tata SKY so far, out of which:
Dish TV: for 9 years and then stopped using.
Tata Sky: for 1 year and continuing.
I’ve given below a few comparative points which convinced me to ditch DishTV for TataSKY:
Ill equipped dishtv technicians: TataSky technicians feel more knowledgeable and are equipped with required tools to tune the antenna properly, connect to TV and then hand over to customer. DishTV guys don’t have any tools to tune the antenna, they go to the setup page on the TV, then go to roof top and adjust the antenna, call the customer on cell phone and ask signal level, this is so annoying.
Useless dishtv Hardware: I changed my entire DishTV hardware(antenna, STB, Remote) twice in above 9 years. They work fine for few months, then the STB stops responding to the inputs from the Remote. Everytime I lodged a complaint with dishtv they guided to update the software which didn’t help. Then they advised to buy new STB+Remote. Can anyone agree to that solution? In contrast, my tatasky is running flawlessly for last one year. The Remote provided is an universal one so I dont’ have to use two remotes at a time for TV and STB. STB response to remote inputs are sharp.
Pricey and less HD channels in tata sky: This is the only issue with tatasky; even after paying for the HD channels they separately ask for’HD Access Fee’. No AIR channels available, I need them being Vividh Bharti fan. Number of HD channels available are lesser compared to dishtv. The discount coupons provided during recharge are useless, e.g. you need to purchase goods worth 2000 to get a discount of 20% etc.
The issues with TataSky are ok to live with but the issues with dishtv are worse. If dishtv acts swiftly and takes care of above issues, maintains quality in its product and services, people like me will have no issues in going back to dishtv, after all they are the most experienced DTH providers in India.
