Hi All,
I decided to purchase my first car early this year. Basically for city use( Office- Home) and sometimes weekend trips. So, my first criteria was mileage, next safety, then comfort/power and the best looks that is affordable in the budget. So, I shortlisted Renault Kwid( which had the looks, mileage not sure, engine performance not up to the mark, long waiting period), Maruti Celerio(mileage good, egg shaped looks, safety- compromised) and Tata Tiago.
Now coming to Tiago
First thing which surprised me was "Is this a Tata car, really!". Looks refreshing with side crease goes straight to the tail lamps.
Inside the car you get a brand new dashboard with steering mounted controls( for me it is the top model XZ) which came loaded with features like bluetooth connectivity to multiple(8) devices, Harman sound system with 4 tweeters and 4 speakers. Chilling AC and one can get the Econonomy and City drive modes. There were Airbags for the driver along with the co-passenger( that took care of the safety part as well since my car will be driven by either me or my wife).Though the floor mats were missing which I had to purchase from the market.
Driveability- well since this is my first personal car and I am used to driving Alto, Maruti 800 etc. So, Tiago in the city mode had the punch and power(of 1.2 ltr petrol engine) to get the feel which I was expecting. Steering is quite precise around the corners.
Mileage - Today I completed 3900 Kms and it is 3.5 months now. Had done one service after 2 months so far and I am pretty satisfied with the service center guys in Howrah, Kolkata. I had one concern that the car music volume reduces considerably whenever I am putting it in reverse gear, to which I was told this is an inbuilt feature and not a bug.
Before the First service in 2months I had driven almost 2000 kms and the mileage was around 14-15 kmpl in the city with AC on. But after the first service I am easily getting mileage of 19-20 kmpl with AC in city driving mode. Few days back to my surprise I received a whopping mileage of 25.7 Kmpl without AC.(I am attaching the picture also in case of doubts).
So, guys if you have the budget of say 5- 5.5 Lakhs and searching for a descent looking car with safety & loads of features and excellent mileage then go for Tiago, Its Fantastico!
[Guys this is my first review, so pardon me with spell checks]
Regards,
Abhishek
