Agreed its a copy of John Q but it surely applies in the Indian context as well...... Tathastu manages to highlight a middle class mans constant struggle to get the basic amenities and facilities for himself in an effective manner.... Very often in the film, u find yourself hiding your face and wiping a tear away as you relate to the protagonists anguish and helplessness in a system which is so insensitive and overpowering.....
Sanjay Dutt is like wine which only gets better with age.... personally I am not very fond of Ameesha patel but she anyways is overshadowed by other powerful performances.
The cinematography by Ravi Walia is apt in keeping with the films requirement. The dark blue and cold look very well depicts the pain and anguish of the characters..... Clean, no nonsense and good work by the cameraman.
The qawwali in the film takes the intensity of the plot to a new height.... its one of the good foottapping qawwalis in recent times.....
The other character actors deliver well... the kid shines thru the film.... despite the lack of hype.... Tathastu shd do well with word of mouth publicity..... A must watch with the entire family..especially if u are a parent... u must watch it atleast once.....
