Milan Luthria’s fast-paced; slick looking saga is a complete entertainer.Patekar plays a taxi driver after quitting 23 jobs in 15 years. It is the middle class fascination with a white collar job that forces him to walk a couple of kilometres to his home in the evening after driving his taxi all over Mumbai by the day. You see, he does not want his wife to know.
Keeping him company is Abrahams millionaire who forgets the key to his treasure in Patekars taxi. This leads to fireworks as the two men gun for each other, then find themselves on the same side of the fence. And as they rediscover themselves, there is a lump in the throat.
The director is very impressive in his handling of the visuals and the mood of the movie. The pace of the movie cannot be faulted at all, and thankfully, since there is only 2 songs in the movie which also runs in the background, one gets to actually enjoy a joyride without the distractions. The background music by is in keeping with the movie, and builds the mood in the film. The cinematography is apt for the movie, and gives the proceedings and environment a life of their own. In terms of a screenplay milan has done a great job. The movie moves at a breakneck pace and doesn’t give the viewer a chance to think.
Like most films nowadays a twist in the plot is essential and Taxi 9211! is no different, delivering its sting in the tail characters .
with relative ease.
Again its thanks to Lutharias cleverly constructed storyline and hiss confident direction that the twist comes across as believable. But the films biggest plus point is the fantastic performances by its cast, John and Patekar in particular. The duo exhibit great comic timing, and breath life into their eccentric .
A must see!
