Taxi 9211- a fun ride

This movie is a fast paced movie which will keep you on the edge of your seats. Its actually a remake of an English movie with Nana Patekar being the counterpart of Samuel L Jackson.

The movie is made very well and it really brings out the worst in the characters of the nana and john. By worst I am not referring to the acting skills (more on that later), but to the characters they portray. Nana is a guy who fails to hang on to any job because of his temper and harsh 0utlook on life. Whereas john is a playboy son of a rich business tycoon who thinks that life is all about money and how the paper currency can overrule and rule over anything in life.

Well they both have lots to learn in life and the director makes their interaction, the means of showing them how bad they were. As usual nana plays the part to perfection. His portrayal of a guy who cannot fit into the system because he will not bend to anyone else’s rules is played to a “T”. Deep down he is a loving family man who will do anything for the well being of the family. But he has to learn that, just providing the bread and butter is not the whole and soul of running a family. There are deeper and more complex emotions which come into the picture.

Johns acting skills still need a lot of improvement. Its ok as long as his role shows him as rich, suave kinds with the cool attitude. But am yet to see him in roles where it requires him to delve into deeper strings of joy, dismay, anger, anguish, sorrow. But since he is playing the role of a rich fashionable guy, its pretty ok.

So on one side you have a guy who is desparately trying to make ends meet (in his own way) and on the other side you have a rich spoilt kid trying to get back what was the most important thing till then to him – MONEY. Both have this mean streak which will take them to any lengths to get back at people.

John has to learn that money is not everything and NANA has to learn that he has to connect with people on a deeper level. Their interactions finally show them the error in their ways. They try to destroy each other throughout the movie but like all movies with a good ending, they end up helping each other and in the process destroy the demons within and emerge as better human beings.

Some argue that the title of the movie does not have any connection with the movie. But then if you look at the way their interaction starts then I would give a thumbs up to the title. You have to look at it kind of like a diving platform. Its only a launch pad for you. How you execute the dive and enter the water is what gives you the points. Same way the taxi was just a launch pad for the story. How the story then unfolds is what matters.

Faults : 1) On a personal note I got tickets for the front row, so neck pain is one fault. (mine mainly).

2)The ending kind of spoils the image of john. There he was making a grand change in his character with the confrontation with “rahul bajaj” fellow and coming out as winnhttps://mouthshut.com/write.php?cid=925053424&r=1er just to start flirting with priyanka chopra. I guess that we still feel bad when the hero has to make an exit without an arm candy.

3) Through the movie when there is a twist awaited, there is a background screech which gets pretty irritating, .

Verdict : Good movie. Good entertainer with great acting by Nana patekar.
