Meter down !

Taxi No. 9 2 11 has a nice theme, two individuals whose paths are destined to cross , end up changing each others lives forever. Maybe the treatment could have been a little better, especially in the second half.

Nana Patekar is the disgruntled taxi driver who takes on John Abraham as a passenger, on that fatefull day when events bank, skid and summersault by 180 degrees to head towards an unpredictable end.

The plot of this movie is its strength and revealing it here, even in bits would be injustice. The movie is shot almost in real time, and the editing is praiseworthy.Like Bluffmaster, this movie is almost like an ode to Mumbai, shot in easily recognisable locales and references are constantly made to various landmarks.

Milan Luthria, director of Kacche Dhaage, a on-road movie, handles the first half brilliantly. You barely have time to draw in air before the next fast paced sequence is upon you.

In the second half, the pace lags and the movie turns into a revenge caper. How you wish the director could have kept the earlier momentum going!!!

Performances:

Nana Patekar is in supreme form , emoting disillusionment , frustration and dry wit with consummate ease. His look is very belieavble. At times you almost feel he isnt acting.

John Abraham : Gives another competent performance, though the script shackles him down on a one point agenda.

This movie is basically only about the both of them but...

Sonali Kulkarni : Is well casted as Patekar wife, and she gets ample scope in 2-3 scenes to demonstrate her acting talent.

Sameera Reddy : Question: Why did she sign this film? Does she need work that badly?

9 2 11 tries to be different , and succeeds for about 80% of its short 2 hr length. If the audience forgives the remaining 20 % , then we have our second hit of the year.

Get in, for a 100 bucks, the ride’s worth it.
