Coffee drinkers have that morning itch of holding a cup or a mug with the steaming brew in it. My grandfather was a heavy coffee drinker and this probably contributed to his incurable insomnia, not to mention that he developed nervous-related spasms.
Tea was the cup of my grandmother. She said that tea is a healthful drink and can take away the boredom. When I was in London(way back in 1986), I almost developed that morning habit of drinking tea with milk. When I came back home, I had ulcers and the physician said that it may have been caused by my tea drinking.
People need a morning habit, says the psychiatrist on TV, the reason why we turn to coffee or tea. A hot drink kills the bitter taste in our newly-awakened tongue, thats the real reason why, especially in cold places. So, coffee, tea, or even cocoa, would all serve the same purpose. Some others, particularly in the tropical countries, turn to cold drinks like fruit juices or even iced tea.
And for me? Since tea is bad for my tummy and coffee is not good for my nerves so I shifted to an early morning fruit juice. But this aggravates my gastritis so that I keep on burping. Lately I drink cocoa with milk but it has a bad effect on my digestive system such that I develop mild diarrhea. To end the story, I drink plain water, two glasses and my morning is okay.
