I am not much experienced in writing under education, but this is one of my favourite topics. This is one of the most interesting and widely acclaimed topics which usually comes for almost all essay competitions. The topic may be a little different like advantages and disadvantages of science and technology or something like that.
This I think, may be the most popular subject as it deals with the current situation of the people who depends heavily on science and technology directly or indirectly in most of their life. This really is some thing inevitable as humans can’t live without depending on technology even for small periods. ’’Technology is so much fun but we can drown in our technology’’ - I can’t remember where I heard this quote, but it is absolutely true.
Technology give more opportunity for expressing our own ideas like in Mouth shut. The information can travel from one area to the other in a flash in internet. Nothing else has created the impact that internet has created. Internet can also be abusive in many cases. There are lots of sites misguiding children.
Technology widens the gap between rich and poor as most of the facilities of technology are not available to poor people. The employment opportunities are high in Technology field, but it decreases the opportunities in many other fields which change from human work to machine work as machines can do the work more efficiently and much faster than humans.
Technology has given humans a chance to fly quicker than birds and even wind as well as to go to space and other planets. May be, as the scientific fields are keeping on developing and developing, one day humans may be able to reside in other planets as well as to travel beyond the galaxies. Those days may not be far away.
Every where you look around, you see the products of technology - computer, television, printer, scanner etc which form an important part of your life. It will be hard to see a house without television or electric fan. The cars and bikes which we use to travel are also the products of technology which we cannot avoid.
The automobiles help you to travel long distances without much effort and in less time. But they make us lazy upto an extent as we may use it to go to a shop which is worth only five minutes of walk. Regular walking was something that keeps the body healthy, but it is avoided by most of the people. In the early years, people used to walk long distances as there was no technology to support them.
The intense weapons of mass destruction developed by different nations are surely useful for their defence, but keep an invisible war going on between the nations as they are afraid of each other. The first and second world war showed what the weapons can do. Earth may not stand a third one as the weapons along with technology has reached such a high level that they can wipe the human race completely out of the surface of earth.
The current medical science is so much developed that they have found cure for a lots of diseases that had been hunting the human kind for millions of years including treatment for cancer. Even face can be changed by plastic surgery. But some new diseases have arised in the mean time just like anthrax and AIDS which were not there in the early periods.
Television is the means of information as well as entertainment. It can help in improving the mood and knowledge of the viewers. But it can also corrupt the youth by the means of excessive violence, sex and lots of other factors. The advantages and disadvantages of television depends on the viewers and not the channels which broadcast them.
The two way concept of the technology is a bit confusing, but it is up to us to decide about it - if it is used efficiently and brilliantly there is not even a slight chance for any problem. The careful use of science and technology can only yield positive results if it is directed in the right way. It is upto us.
