A Test of Love, a test to determine the limits of a relationship, a test of loyalty..yep its all that and much more.Four unmarried couples, each in their own homes, prepare and pack for their trip to Temptation Island. Andy and Shannon from Malibu have been together for five years; Billy and Mandy from Atlanta, a year and a half; Taheed and Ytossie from Los Angeles, on and off five and a half years; and Kaya and Valerie from Miami, a year and a half. The couples board a small plane for the tiny island of Ambergris Caye in Belize (Temptation Island).Here they are met by the host Mark Whalberg and taken to the Paradise Island of Mata Chica where they are separated and their affections for each other is put to the test by some gorgeous members of the opposite sex who will try to tempt them for ten days.
The first date was a blind date.The coupled men and women were swept away by their blind dates, and each date begins a day filled with excitement amidst the breathtaking surroundings of Belize.And the journey began...The couples had no connection with one another but..if they chose to they could view the most intimate moment their respective love’s had on their island.And then the heartburn began..
The second date was selective, each of the couples got to select his/her date in front of their partners.And, the fire began.The second dates were more intimate as the couples began to lose their shyness and nervousness and started to enjoy themselves.Jealousy began to protrude its ugly head as Billy didn’t really enjoy what Mandy was doing.In return, Billy does a striptease and the relationship begins to deteriorate.Meanwhile, Taheed and Ytossie are forced to leave the island since they have a child..and try to repair their relationship.The events continue and the relationships deteriorate further until the final, exotic intimate date.As the couples choose their partners on the exotic date...and prepare to enjoy themselves..there are at least four people who have got emotionally involved with others..Shannon with Tom, Mandy with John, Billy with Valerie and Kaya with Alison.After the final date, I was personally sure that at least Mandy and Shannon would break up with their original boyfriends as they had some really intimate moments with their dates on the final date...
The final episode..its crunch time.The couples have to face each other in 6 heart-rending confessions which would determine their future.First went Andy who admitted having an emotional connection with Megan but says that nothing has changed his love for Shannon.And surprisingly, a teary-eyed Shannon breaks down and says that she never loved anyone other than Andy.This was perhaps the most emotional confession as the reunited couple plan to return home.
Next was Billy and Mandy..the couple with the highest problems.Both admit to having relationships..but as Mandy puts it, Billy was and is her only boyfriend and she never wants to do it again.And, again, the couple walk away together.
And finally, even Kaya and Valerie confess their love for each other.
Surprising?!!!Damn right yes.I guess every one of us would love to be on island with some beautiful people..but the show is not about that..its about how the couples tended to remain with each other..in spite of the enormous temptation.At the end of the day, guess it was Love that came out on top.We, in India talk about and take pride about commitments and relationships in our culture ..but it is these people who have passed the ultimate test of loyalty.Perhaps, the world is a small place ..after all..
