If the games are divided into different categories, I think that the most widely played games will surely be action games. There are lots of them, but only a few has got the satisfaction to present the gamer with. I believe that the following are the current best action games available. Do give me idea about better games through the comment section.
1) HALF-LIFE 2
This game has become successful in bringing back the magic of the original Half life released long ago. We can see Gordon Freeman, the hero of the first Half life coming back strongly, but this time into an entirely different situation.
Great visuals along with entertaining game play keeps the game on top level and there may not be any substitute for this game for a long time. It leaves one question - when will we have another sequel?
2) MAX PAYNE 2
The success of Max Payne continues in this game as our hero goes through more emotions. With the powerful and striking storyline and movies, this game is hard to let go. Even if the game is rated mature some scenes and also violence.
The game has got bullet time dodge, like in Matrix. The only sad thing is that the game has got a sad ending. But still it got lots of replayability with some different game modes.
3) UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2004
The second sequel to one of most intensifying games in the history of gaming industry was nothing more than amazing. The game got into it, the act of fragging and thus increasing the pace and intensity of action games, especially first person shooters.
With vehicles and new game modes added, along with lots of moving to do, this game has got all that is needed for rock and roll, but the fact that it is a six CD game horrifies me.
4) GTA: VICE CITY
Grand Theft Auto is the source of extreme action as it has got not only guns, but bikes, scooters, cars etc as well as buildings to buy and jobs to do. It is you who decide your fate!
This wide variety of choices give this game a definite edge over the other action games. A well-built storyline supports the game play really well. Play the game to get the experience!
5) HITMAN 2: SILENT ASSASSIN
The merciless contract killer of Hitman Codename 47 returns as the silent assassin, but with some better graphics and game play. The true fact is that this game is a bit simpler than the first one.
Even if there is a certain amount of ease in playing this game, still you need to use your brain a lot and use stealth as well as the new innovative ideas to gain the fair advantage in this game while dealing with your opponents with some brilliant AI. They should never know what hit them - If they do, you are finished forever.
6) DOOM 3
The legendary Doom series makes a much awaited return in the form of Doom 3, the game which got more hype than anything else. Doom 3 has got some highly intense and horrifying levels to add to its heavy action.
There are some areas filled with darkness with some ugly looking creatures ready to pounce on you at any moment. This was a very good game, but still not up to the hype it produced. As Doom was the first action game, I played, it was quite obvious that I would wait for Doom 3.
7) FAR CRY
If Doom 3 takes you to hell and Halflife 2 to the future, this game takes place to an exotic island with some scenic beauty to enjoy. This scenic beauty may stun you so that there is a chance that you may even forget to shoot. As the hero of the game, Jack - lots of mysteries lay infront of you in the game.
Even the most beautiful islands have got another side! Just see the cutscenes to get immersed in the game. But there is nothing special with the game play which disappoints me.
8) QUAKE 3 ARENA
The number one competitor against Unreal Tournament is a wonderful game, but it loses to UT because of the less game modes and less levels and higher system requirements for almost similiar graphics.
With UT coming up with UT 2004, Quake needs to move up atleast to the Quake 4 to give some competition even if ID seems to have been satisfied with the success of Doom 3 which makes me wonder if they will give us a Quake 4.
9) UNREAL 2: THE AWAKENING
This sequel to Unreal’s first effort to set foot in the gaming industry was an interesting experience. With some realistic graphics and stylish character details, the game is the source of ultimate action with a somewhat different storyline and a well-planned character AI.
Everything looked almost perfect in the game and the requirements managed to stay low too. If you are looking for a good game at the cost of a few resources, this is the game for you.
10) UNDYING
This game may be one of the scariest games ever produced. The efects are amazing. You may see a demon now, but when the lights of the hall get switched off and then on, it disappears.
You will see some horrifying demons and the howling and screeching sounds all over which adds to the horror. It is going to be a great experience, playing at night, with all lights switched off and volume turned on at a high level.
