10 dream directors in bollywood

I am hoping that, these dream directors would take Indian Cinema to a whole new dimension of meaningful cinema laced with entertainment. One thing that is in common with all of them, is that they look at movies as a creative medium to express what they believe in.Names are in Alphabetical Order.

1.Ashutosh Gowarikar :

Though his initial movies “Pehla Nasha” and “Baazi” didn’t click, with “Lagaan” he proved that, he can do wonders if he gets a good script to work on. Though “Swades” did have few issues in the editing and screenplay department , still it was a beautiful movie. Hope he continuous doing the kind of cinema he believes in.

2.Farhan Akhtar :

“Dil Chahat Hai” was like a cool breeze on the sliver screen after a long time. Every thing about the movie was just perfect, from cast selection and performances to screenplay and direction. Expectations were sky high from “Lakshya” and I was so happy to see that he didn’t repeat “Dil Chahat Hai” and made a movie that was so different from his previous work and equally beautiful. “Lakshya” was a gaint step for Farhan Akhtar and I am sure his next step will not disappoint us.

3.Mani Ratnam :

This man was the pioneer in bringing stylish presentation and sensitive subjects together. Serious subject are presented in the best cinematic beauty. His movies are not just a treat for your minds, but for your eyes too. Looking forward to see the more from the genius

4.Madhur Bhandarkar :

This director breathes the society issues, and you can see that in all of his movies whether it’s “Page 3” or “Chandni Bar”. He has gone in and out of every stream in the society and framed it picture perfect in his screenplays. Keep up the good work.

5.Rajkumar Hirani :

Here’s a man who dares to bring together comedy and serious plots. I salute him for his brave step “Lage Raho Munnabhai” , where he brings forward Mahatma Gandhi’s teaching in a comedy movie. This one movie is more than enough for you to realize his caliber as a director. And I have sure he will not disappoint us in his upcoming projects.

6.Rakesh Omprakash Mehra :

The subject of “Rang De Basanti” was something that was attempted by so many directors for so many years and almost when it felt like patriotic movies are no way going to gel with young crowd of the nation, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra proved that with dedication and determination towards your script and screenplay nothing is impossible.

7.Ram Gopal Varma :

Now, this guy is daredevil. No commercial aspects of the bollywood can bend this guy. If a subject gets into his head , the next thing you know is the camera starts rolling. Not every movie from him and his camp is brilliant , but what is important is that he is making attempt to explore things and try an bring new things on screen. Way to go Ramu.

8.RajKumar Santoshi :

He is a complete director to me. He can handle a comedy “Andaz Apna Apna” with the same perfection as he does a action pack “Ghayal” or a social drama “Damini”. Give him a good script and he will do wonders.

9.Sanjay Leela Bhansali :

This man came as a blessing with “Khamoshi The Musical” when sensitive cinema was loosing it’s grip in the industry. But, later it was sad to see that he went commercial with “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” and “Devdas”. But, I never questioned his skillful direction. Finally, “Black” happened and I was glad to see Sanjay doing some meaningful cinema. He is like an institution for aspiring directors, but I really hope he keeps up with subjects that are close to his heart and not his distributor’s heart.

10.Vishal Bhardwal :

Vishal is one more director who will not fall for commercial traps in the industry. He is the only director who makes a point to make a children’s film after every 2 projects. He deserves lot of respect for his commitment not only towards good cinema, but cinema for all age groups. Though he started as music director, his command over the medium as director is absolutely outstanding. “Maqbool” and “ Omkara” confirms this loud and clear. As it is not everyone’s cup of tea to adapt Shakespeare’s work in bollywood.
