Bye Bye 2007..

Anyhow I also tried to relate this list with commercial success. Otherwise there should be Chodo na yaar, Dharam, Manorama, Johhny Gaddar, Khoya Khoya Chand. Not partner and Dhamaal. i think I need to make one more list for these.

*Firstly Five best movies!

*GURU

Guru is based on the life story of Dhirubhai Ambani, with some cosmetic changes. Gurukant Desai, who was discouraged by his father, yet dares to achieve what was then thought impossible. Works in Turkey as a teenager, comes back to India, marries his best friend’s sister for her sizeable dowry and moves on to Bombay with his wife & bro-in-law to start off his own show, in the textile business. To get to whatever he wants, he bends the rules and plays the game, and makes tons of moneys for the simpletons who cannot afford doing much with their basic salaries. A film like ‘Guru’ has not been seen on the Indian screen before.

Namaste London

Namaste London tackles an issue close to many peoples hearts in asian society - forced marriage. Katrina plays the pretty British asian chick who is forced to marry a noble, innocent village boy, Akshay Kumar. However, when Akshay comes to London Katrina questions the validity of the marriage, and begins to express interest in marrying a rich gora.

The viewer learns from Akshays journey that there are no conditions in true love. One cannot change onself for another in the name of love. There is no other girl in the Bollywood industry that could have portrayed the role of a British Asian the way Katrina did! Akshay Kumar is on top of his game yet again. If there is one movie you had totally enjoyed this year, it is Namaste London!

CHAK DE INDIA

CHAK DE INDIA WAS AN EXCEPCTION. Sport was not a very successful genre in Bollywood, most sport based movies have failed miserably at the box office. Chak De India directed by Shimit Amin  is about an ex Indian Hockey team captain’s return as the Coach to the Indian Women’s National Hockey team and his fight in making team India a strong and indomitable team.

Best of CHAK DE . The introduction scene of the girls to the coach. Brilliant, The lunch at McDonald’s scene.  The climax is so emotional that it leaves you with a tear in your eye

Jab We Met

The film doesn’t had a very unique story But What makes it interesting is the way it has been presented by Imtiaz Ali . ‘Jab We Met’ tells the story of two contrasting personalities who develop an affinity while traveling together through the heartland of north India. Ali makes sure that something new happens in every reel of the film to keep you glued to the screen. However, the film is not without some low points.

Aditya( Shahid Kapur)boards a train on which he meets Geet( Kareena Kapoor) a chatterbox who annoys him with her constant talking. The romantic moments between Shahid and Kareena tug a string at your heart. Complementing the mush is the lighthearted humour that the film has in ample doses. If anything was left, the film’s music completes the delectable cocktail.

Taare Zameen Par

The story is unusual but not unknown. We already know the message that the story tries to convey, but most of us just remain ignorant to it. Aamir Khan, the director, has handled the delicate theme with dexterity and precision. He has not just succeeded in making every child a hero but actually helped us see a child in ourselves. Just like no man is perfect no matter what position he commands in the society, every child with both their ability and inabilities is special and talented in their own way. The movie isn’t just about a child suffering from dyslexia and his challenges, it’s also about how parents get carried away by today’s competitive world and fail to understand their child’s dreams and nurture their inborn talents. Unlike any other enlightening entertainer, which focuses more on the hero. A number of sequences leave you moist eyed and you feel deeply attached to the child. At the end of the movie you are left speechless and spellbound. Darsheel Safary delivers a knockout performance.  Overall, Taare Zameen Par is a good emotional story with a message for the parents.

*Now five Good Movies!

*Partner

Prem(Salman Khan) comes across Bhaskar Diwakar Chaudhury(Govinda) who is in love with Priya(Katrina Kaif) the rich daughter of a millionaire business tycoon Raichand(Dalip Tahill).  In PARTNER it’s an equal show for both Salman and Govinda.  David Dhawan’s  formula has always been “leave your brains at home” and PARTNER is no difference. On the other hand this can be over-looked as the focus here is primarily on Salman Khan and Govinda.A full Time pass!

Life in a Metro

’Life in a Metro’ directed by Anurag Basu talks about the different walks of life that a Metro city has in store. How hard-pressed a life could be in a Metro is demonstrated manifestly. With growing demands in both domestic and professional life, one fails to notice and be contented with what is already there and rather search them in a different sphere. The search never ends but time does.

To describe in few words, ’Metro’ is a movie that tells different stories with one common theme: complexities of relationships. It also depicts how one succumbs to the worst conduct just to make money.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Bhool Bhulaiyaa is NOT an out-n-out comedy movie It’s a thriller narrated in a very entertaining way.its a remake of a 14 year old Malayalam movie, Manichitrathazhu. Priyadarshan has handled the complicated script extremely well. The first half is a light comic thriller. The lead character(Akshay Kumar) enters 45 mins into the movie and takes it to a completely different level. The second half is more of a psychological thriller. The performances are top-notch. The second half belongs to Vidya Balan. She has done complete justice to a role that demanded great onscreen histrionics. Watch out as she sets the screen ablaze with a mind blowing performance in the last 20 mins. Undoubtedly her best performance to date! Akshay Kumar is good in emotional scenes and as always brilliant with his comic timing.

Dhamaal*

*Indra Kumar’s movie ‘Dhamaal’ is a full timepass entertainer, movie tells the story of four good-for-nothing guys. Dhamaal’ progresses through several hilarious situations as the four friends search for the booty. Their search is fraught with dangers they are not prepared to face. Right from the start, when the characters are introduced, ‘Dhamaal’ makes its intentions clear, that is to provide unadulterated entertainment. As it turns out, the first half is truly funny. Its a Paisa Vassol!

Cheeni Kam

Cheeni kum is a sweet romantic story. Usually a romantic story usually carries elements of sweetness. When such a story has less sweetness in it, it automatically denotes less sugar. That’s why director have named it Cheeni Kum!

There is a fantastic moment where she berates Bachchan for being too forward, for daring, like all men would, to ask a girl out and assume she’s available, just because she’s smiled at him a few times. On the whole a sweet movie!

So.Waiting for comments!
