My 10 favorite movies of 2007

  1. Taare Zameen Par: A movie that moved many and made money. It’s not everyday that we come across a piece of work that makes a heartfelt connection and brings out questions for a thoughtful mind.

Standout Contributions:

Story: Amole Gupte

Music : Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

Child Actor : Darsheel Safary

  1. Black Friday: Making a movie on Mumbai Bomb Blast is not an easy task. But, Anurag gave his best shot and his work was well appreciated by one and all.

Standout Contributions:

Director : Anurag Kashyap

  1. Life ..in a Metro : Story with 5 different segments interlinked holding 10 different characters and still delivers a product that brilliant. Reference guide for Salaam-E-Ishq director Nikhil Advani.

Standout Contributions:

Screenplay : Anurag Basu

Dialogue : Sanjeev Dutta

  1. Chak De...India: YashRaj and Shahrukh combination never looked so refreshing on screen before. Thanks to Shimit Amin and Jaideep Sahni for delivering the goods.

Standout Contributions:

Director : Shimit Amin

Dialogue : Jaideep Sahni

  1. Jhonny Gaddar: No lead actress, New actor in lead, few character actors and product was nothing short of great piece of cinema which was a perfect tribute to 70’s thriller movies.

Standout Contributions:

Director :  Sriram Raghavan

Debut Actor : Neil Nitin Mukesh

  1. Cheeni Kum: Most refreshing film of the year. The movie surprises you with storyline and engages you with the brilliant treatment.

Standout Contributions:

Actor: Tabu

Debut Director : R Balakrishna

  1. Guru: Mani Ratnam always pushes himself hard to bring out the best stories, best talent and a overall extra ordinary product. Guru was no exception to that except that the box office collection didn’t really match up to the hard work put in by the team.

Standout Contributions:

Actor : Abhishek Bachchan

Music : A R Rahman

  1. Jab We Met: Beautiful crafted feel good movie of the year. The story wasn’t out of the world, neither the screenplay, direction or performances. But still everything seemed just right with this product and made it’s way straight into your heart.

Actor : Kareena Kapoor

Story : Imtiaz Ali

  1. Gandhi My Father: I won’t say the movie was brilliant piece of cinema, but the intentions to make a sincere movie abt the untold story of Harilal were clearly seen across the screen. Coming from a debut director , this was a great movie.

Standout Contributions:

Actor : Akshaye Khanna

Art Direction : Nitin Chandrakant Desai

  1. Namastey London: The casting for this movie was perfect; they did complete justice to the characters they played. The Direction, Screenplay and Music blends quite well to hold the audience until the end titles roll.

Standout Contributions:

Director : Vipul Shah

Lyrics : Javed Akhtar
