Ten best...

Enough of five:), I will now write on Ten Best Hindi Movies, I am not sure if they are really best for everyone out there, but I like these movies and have watched them again and again…there must be something in them…

.**MILI-** This movie is my all time favorite , I don’t know why.May be I identify with Jaya Bhaduri’s character or if it is compassion for a person who is highly misunderstood and unfortunate played by Amitabh Bachchan or may be the songs *maine kaha phoolon se or aaye tum yaad bahut , *such a haunting song.Music was great by S D Burman.

.**MASOOM-**This is also one of my favorite films, I have seen it many times and never get tired of it.Denying an innocent child of right to live respectfully is what touches in this movie.Small girl from Kanpur who plays youngest daughter is just great the way she talks blinking her eyes.Songs are great from **lakdi ki kaathi to huzoor is kadar naa itra ke chaliye…**Even Saaeed Jaffrey has acted so good.

.**ANAND- **Who can disagree with this, all time classic explores the lives of many people interconnected with each other having common friend as Rajesh Khanna who lives so positively even when diagnosed with cancer and we pity on small things.Staring your death directly in eyes and still encouraging everybody to live on is difficult art.Rajesh Khanna wrote history in this movie, greatest movie to his credit.Songs were great **maine tere liye hi saat rang ke sapne chune sapne suhane, kahin door jab din dhal jaye…**this movie is a statement , cannot be made again no matter what…

.**UMRAO JAAN-**All time great movie, no matter how hard remake is made, will never be able to parallel the original one.Tragic tale of a woman, destined to be married respectfully and then destined cruelly to live a life of curse, so desirable yet so neglected by society. Can only be described by their own song **justaju jiski ki usko to na paya humne, is bahane se magar dekh li duniya humne, **how true in a materialistic world, sad positivism, I should say.Every song of this movie is great, **dil cheez kya hai **is all time great song spiralling Asha Bhonsle to another heights she never touched before.

.**HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM-** This is a great story, story of a husband not jealous or revengeful of his wife’s affair, but trying to help her in his own way not showing his emotions how he feels about it, but blurts out when drunk. This is  a unique story  complimented by Rai’s beauty, vivacity, rebellion and then slow conversion of thoughts, shifting of thoughts towards her husband’s true selfless love.Songs, cinematography and what not, everything was great. **Aankhon ki gustakiyan…**got the praise of even critics.KK’s recognition as a great singer in **tadap tadap **was instantaneous.I have seen a strange phenomenon when this movie came out of shelf, men in particular did not like this for obvious reasons, but thanks to female community, it was a rage and my mother saw this movie before me.

.**MUGHAL-E-AZAM-**What a movie and what  a story, that too with real connotations.I must admit these Moghuls gave great movie subjects to us, another one is TAJMAHAL.May be they were too rich and lived dramatic lives.Great movie, great music, great dialogues. It was a masterpiece and will always and now the colored version has added more hues to it and conserved it forever.Great songs **pyar kiya to darna kya, mohabbat ki jhoothi kahani pe roye…**I wish they could have shown where did Anarkali go from that cave? Its rumored she went to live in Afghanistan and married a warrior and got widowed and returned back to Mughals to live in a more respectful way.I liked one of its movie dialogue when Madhubala says to Prithviraj Kapoor in last scene that she has forgiven him.

.**MAUSAM-**This is also a sad movie but with a happy ending.Wanting to save or get his sweetheart, Sanjeev Kumar comes across his sweetheart’s daughter living miserably, a lot of misunderstanding occurs, but everything is sorted out and they leave together for a better life.Watching a girl desperate for natural love, not knowing who Sanjeev Kumar is, a subtle emotion hard to emote.Sharmila Tagore did wonders. This movie also has its own brand Gulzar lyrics, **ruke ruke se kadam ruk ruk ke bar bar chale…and ‘lete rahe thandi safed chador par der tak.**I think this would be first lyrics which expressed emotions so simply.

.**SAHIB BIBI AUR GHULAM-**This is a black and white movie, but its immaterial, though I wish it could be colored as well like Mughal-e-Azam.This is also based on a real story.Guru Dutt as “Ghulam” symbolically relives his past after discovering a skeleton from an excavation site which happens to be of Meena Kumari who gives away her life to alcohol after not able to ‘retrieve’ her husband Rehmaan from other woman. It has also beautiful Waheeda Rehmaan as Guru Dutt’s wife, but in a small role.Songs are good enough to compliment movie.

.**NARAM GARAM-**This is a comedy movie starring Utpal Dutt, Amol Palekar, Shatrughan Sinha and sultry Swaroop Sampat. All of them want to marry her for their own reasons.Their turmoils, hidden plans and clashes make it hilarious. Its funny to see father, son and their employee, all after one girl. Most Funny is when Amol Palekar negotiates his salary at the end of movie with Utpal Dutt when he begs him to marry her as his teenage daughter and mother-in-law arrive at the secret marriage venue.

.**GUIDE-**last but not the least, This is a movie based on a novel by R K Narayan, a heart rending story of a talented dancer who neither gets happiness in her marriage nor in her affair with a guide.Great songs, beautiful locales of Udaipur, and stunning dance numbers makes this movie all time favorite and evergreen.Music by S D Burman and a number by himself **wahan kaun hai tera musafir jayega …kahan…makes **it complete.
