Its a general perception that a movie depicts the mind-set of a particular society. I fully agree with this perception. The interest to understand the mind-set of a particular society has forced me to watch many Bollywood & Hollywood movies and those kind of movies which my friends out there wouldn’t like to watch. So carrying forward this interest, I had watched many Bollywood movies of 40’s which include movies of K.L.Saigal, Leela Chitnis, Devika rani, Ashokkumar, Nadia (the hunterwali), etc.; though I never liked any of these movies due to slow pace and many other reasons. CRITERIA FOR A MOVIE TO MAKE IT TO MY TOP LIST 1. Good Story, 2. Good Direction, and 3.

The story moves around a West Bengal based farmer, his endeavour to get back his two acres of land from LALA( a financer) which he had hypothecated, the problems faced by him and the way he tackles the problem. Shantaram WATCHED BY ME:- 4-5 times ’’DUNIYA MEIN HUM AAYE HAIN TO JEENA HI PADEGA, JEEVAN HAI AGAR ZHAR TO JEENA HI PADEGA....’’, the song is still a treat for my ears. How a mother (being a farmer) after death of her husband faces problem for the survival of herself and her children’s, still manages to survive against all odd’s. A mother who doesn’t hesitate to kill her son for saving the daughter of her enemy from being raped. The movie was nominated in ’’Best Foreign Film’’ category at 30th Annual Academy Awards. I have always missed the first part of the movie but what I have seen in second part in itself is enough to make to my top list. The main character gets frustrated due to rigid rules and regulations of the society and doesn’t want any kind of acknowledgement from the society. The thought of ’’SAT’s’’ friend and my thoughts run on similar track. Aanand, a 25 year old cancer patient who believes in ’’Share joy with all but don’t share your sorrows’’, lived that kind of life till his death. No regrets, no complaints. ’’ZINDAGI KAISI HAI PAHELI HAAYE, KABHI TO HASAAYE KABHI TO RULAAYE.....’’. The human being whoever is able to solve the riddle of life, I give him/her a boon that he/she would have ’’Happiness for lifetime’’. Highest revenue earning movie of Indian Cinema, if the revenue earned in that year is inflated in accordance to year 2002, the analyst’s states that the movie has generated revenues worth Rs. 180 crores. The only movie which ran continously for 5 years in Maratha Mandir, Mumbai Central. Till yet, no other movie has ever had such a whooping response and business. A hilarious comedy, the central character of the story Ram Prasad Sharma a newly graduated man starts his career with a lie and to hide that lie how he is forced to speak another lie and so on. Amol Palekar has acted fabulously as Ram Prasad Sharma. The answer is NO. I am not a die-hard fan of cricket nor do I regularly follow cricket. Full marks for the creativeness of the director. He has masterly ellaborated the drought period of 1890’s and incidents connected to it.
