This year had a lot of great albums to offer, but sadly the better albums are never noticed. We are always hearing the appraisal of the music from Veer - Zeera, Main Hoon Na(Though at a time I was addicted, but that was before the unnessesary hype) or Swades and how wonderful they are, but they really arent. They are not bad, but you have to admit most of the popularity isnt the music, but the stars in the movies(Srk). Well you may notice my top ten is probably not even close to yours and you might be shocked or mightve never even heard of them! Here goes.
X Murder(Anu Malik)
When I First heard this I wasnt very amazed and thought very average of it. But, after a couple of listens I became particularly addicted to two of the songs which brought this album to notice. Kaho Na Kaho & Zindagi Is Tarah(Anuradha Paudwal) are my pic of the lot and my favorites from this Killer Album.
IX Rok Sako To Rok Lo(Jatin - Lalit)
Im always fond of Jatin - Lalit, they composed a lot of great numbers through out the 90s(Khiladi, Fareb, Yes Boss) and though this album suffers a bit rehashment( total rehashment for the movie, which was a bad copy of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander), they come pretty fresh. The best songs are Jaane Kisse & Haan Mujhe Tham le.
VIII Musafir(Vishal - Shekar)
I bought the tape before actually listening to the album, a huge risk for me to do. Surprisingly, it was really good! It had nice, slow numbers(Phir Na Kehna & Ek Dil Ne), sad numbers(Rabba and the rest were fast, item numbers.
The best ones are Door Se Paas, Sun Suniyo, Phir Na Kehna and Ishq Kabhi Kariyo Na, and good move along with it!
VII Charas(Raju Singh)
I loved this album! Though the movie was extremely boring and dull. Anyways this album also had it all, slow numbers, fast numbers and sad numbers. The best songs are Yeh Dhuan, Sulge Hui & Tumhe Arpan.
VI Chehraa(Anu Malik, Nikhal Vinay)
I love this album a lot! Because of awesome melodious two songs, Mausam Ki Ijaazat & Kabhi Khamosh Bethogi. They are so soothing and relaxing, but sadly they are never noticed.
V Meenaxi(A.r Rahman)
A.r Rahman is extremely over-rated, well the popular ones are(Swades, Yuva, Lakeer). This Album won me over though, because of the extremely versatile, enchanting songs! Yeh Rishta and Rang Hai are my favorites but the rest are also good.
IV Paap(Anu Malik & Various)
I instantly feel in love with this album, why? Pooja Bhatt is the name of an actress with stunning music in her movies(Junoon, Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee, Sir, Tamanna etc) and in them also bring out the best in composers. Clearly all of Anus best albums had the Bhatt Tag to them, and Paap is just another addition. Sun Ai Mere Dil and Intezaar are the two compositions by Anu Malik and they are best songs from this album. Man Ki Lagan also deserves a notice, which is composed and sung by Ustad Rateh Ali Khan.
III Chameli(Sandesh Sandilya)
Wow! I have never heard such a nice, jazzy hindi album before I listened to this. This is truly Sundhis album. Bhaage Re Mann, Jaane & Yeh Lamha are beautiful!
II Tumsa Nahin Dekha(Nadeem - Sharavan)
This is truly N - S best album since Kasoor. This is the first time I ever bought a tape for a movie, since I was little, and I proud to have it in my collection. This album is truly Sherya Ghoshals. She sung them all except one! Yeh Dhuan, Mujhe Tumse Mohabbat and Bheed Mein are the best!
Now I must say, I am a die hard fan of Bhatt movies because they have the best music in their movies(Aashiqui, PTKYA, Criminal, Kasoor, Sur) and one composer, next to Anu Malik, which truly brought spectacular music to bollywood and The Bhatts was Mm. Kreem, He composed truly the best music Ever with Jism, Sur and.
I Rog(Mm.Kreem)
After Sur, Jism, Pooja Bhatt roped in Mm.Kreem for another treasure, and thats exactly what happened. Though the lesser of the three, Rog has true originality and quality which very few albums have these days. The album would remain unnoticed, but thats actually a good thing, because it would not become stale due to overplaying. Maine Dil Se Kaha, Khoobsurat & Guzar Na Jaye are the glimmer of the gold. this is a must add to any collection
Runner Ups: Fida, Rakht, Hum Tum, Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha, Phir Milenge, Dobara, Aitraaz, Main Hoon Na, Veer Zeera and Girlfriend
I hope you liked my review and thanks for reading it.
