The 2004 songs collection!

As this is my first review of 2005, I thought about having a wind-up of 2004.  2004 surely had some very impressive collection of songs.  I think that taking ten songs will never be a fair thing to do which made me restrict it as only one song from one movie.  That is the reason why I couldn’t include the songs like Tere liye(Veer-Zara) and Chale jaise hawaayen(Main Hoon Na), Woh Tara(Swades), Phir Milenge(Phir Milenge) etc.

I didn’t include Kisna because I am still to hear a song from it completely which makes me think that it can be considered for next year’s review!  As I am afraid that I may have to write into the comments section, I am avoiding the lyrics here, but I think that most of you already knows them.  Even as I am crazy with C Programming, still I couldn’t stop myself from writing this review.  Hope that atleast some of you have the same choices.

*1) Song: DO PAL RUKA

Movie: VEER-ZARA*

The sentimental songs still got the magic going.  Even if the movie wasn’t much of a hit in Kerala and the songs were not much talked about, this is one song which stayed in my mind for a long time.  It always keeps me emotional and seems to be made especially for broken hearts.

The song just gives the feeling that something is missing.  I wonder if I should keep a pot or a bucket to collect the tears after hearing the song.  It is so hard to be avoided, especially after seeing the movie.  Even I didn’t care for those songs before seeing the movie.  The song suits the one moment of the movie the best with the exact words!

*2) Song: DIL NE JISE

Movie: DIL NE JISE APNA KAHA*

This may not be among the best movies of 2004, but this one song surely deserves a good spot in the list.  The slow music of the song along with those instruments used has really helped in making it far more attractive.

It just flows in a very smooth way filling your mind with a special feeling especially when hearing for the first time.  It has succeeded in presenting the feelings of a loving heart really well in the most appropriate manner.

*3) Song: JEENE KE ISHARE

Movie: PHIR MILENGE*

After a long period of despair and loneliness, the feeling that you get after finding the meaning of life which was unknown to you - it may be one of the best feelings you can ever have.  The same feeling runs through the whole song.

Sankar Mahadevan has done the job really well and the song was really very hard to avoid even if I used to be a Salman hater.  I think that the song combines the sad tone with the joyful moment really well.  The guitar music in the song sounds really well.

*4) Song: DHOOM MACHALE

Movie: DHOOM*

Actually, this is one song which does not need any description.  It is sung allover India, it is used for dances in almost all functions, it can be heard as the ringtone in a number of mobiles and so on.

I strongly believe that this was the one song which made the journey of the movie Dhoom much easier and smoother throughout the theatres.  The English version of the song by Tata Young also had been very impressive just like the original one.

*5) Song: SAAKI SAAKI

Movie: MUSAFIR*

Even if the movie couldn’t live upto the expectations, the songs were really enjoyable.  Among the fast paced songs, I believe that this one is the most electrifying one because of the excellent performance by Sanjay Dutt as well as Koena Mitra.

As usual, Sanjay Dutt has continued his performance as the don and he looks the best in this song.  He got the exact expressions going through out the song even if he hasn’t got much dancing to do.

*6) Song: MUJHE TUMSE

Movie: TUMSA NAHI DEKHA*

This song has got one of the best music throughout the song.  Diya Mirza has done a really wonderful job aith those steps.  This is one hell of a song especially when we hear it with the speakers in full volume.

The remix of the song was also equally beautiful and I am glad that I could get this one in my collection.  But even then, I will not dare to watch the movie as after hearing the plot of the movie, I just decided to be satisfied with the songs.

*7) Song: MADHOSHI HAI

Movie: MADHOSHI*

As John Abraham-Bipasha Basu are on the scree, I don’t know how many of the people have listened to the song instead of the scene.  But the song really was an outstanding one and the singer, Roopkumar Rathod did sound really well.

The song goes in a medium pace, and provides us a very good feeling, unlike the movie which manage to flop like none other proving that not always the same technique works.  But this song surely is worth checking out once.

*8) Song: MAIN HOON NA

Movie: MAIN HOON NA*

The songs speaks about a feeling that some one is with you always - in all your times of difficulties and at those times when you have lost the confidence in yourselves as well as the others, thinking that you are a failure.  If some one then says ’’Main Hoon Na’’, it will give you a stronger feeling.

This is the piece of inspiration every heart needs to redeem itself.  It says ’’You will get as much as love as you wants’’. Is there any better thing than this?  I think that this may be one of the most meaningful and inspiring songs ever to be made!

*9) Song: YUN HI CHALA

Movie: SWADES*

This was the first song I heard from Swades and it surely didn’t disappoint me.  A.R.Rahman’s music has been quite outstanding throughout hte movie.  Even if the movie wasn’t as much good as I expected, the songs were really well made.

Woh Tara was another song considered for the spot, but I think that it didn’t have anything special like this song had - a different style.  If I didn’t hear this song, I may not have even thought about seeing this movie.

*10) Song: HAAN YEHI RASTA HAI

Movie: LAKSHYA*

Nothing proclaims the importance of achieving a goal other than this song. This the way of life you have to go through, this is your dream and most of all, this is your goal which you have to achieve whatever or whoever may try to stop from reaching it.

The difficulties you are to face on the way should not be something that tires you, but they should strengthen you more and more. If you have the courage that you can do it, who can stop you? If no one got faith in you, show them how well you can perform!

*Consolation: Song: GARAJ BARAS

Movie: PAAP*

When I first heard this song, I thought that some one was crying.  But after hearing it again and again, it seemed to have something special theat attracted me towards it.  John Abraham looks stunning during the song and it really was a bit hard to select this song avoiding te other good ones of the same movie.

The song got an entirely different tone going through it as the beats get up and down at regular intervals.  But the song seemed a bit complicated and highly intense.  Anyways, it is not going to be a bad thing for the listeners, is it?

The other impressive ones were

Paigam - LAKEER

Titli - MEENAXI

Dil de diya - MASTI

Kaho na kaho -MURDER

Hum tum - HUM TUM

Aao Na - KYON HOGAYA NA
