The most credible ones !

2006 was the most successful year in the recent past as far as the  BOX-OFFICE results are concerned. It even came up with some new subjects, and thankfully, even audience showed great interest in all of them.

I am not going to list my fav films of 2006, as it would be too risky to  name them. reason - KANK features there somewhere in the list [ no. I am not going to tell you at which position ]. What I am actually going to do is to revisit the biggest films of last year in terms of credibilty and making waves in the industry.

*RANG DE BASANTI

*for it served us a near perfect blend of thought provoking and entertaining cinema

for **AAMIR **’n’ **A.R.REHMAN** couldn’t have a better come-back platform.

becuase a few underdog actors united and ignited the silver screen.

*OMKARA

*because we forgot **SAIF **’n’ **KAREENA**, and experienced LANGDA TYAGI ’n’ DOLLY

for there is a vast difference between copy and interpretation

for risque dialogues don’t necessarily hamper the intriguing impact of a film.

*LAGE RAHO MUNNA BHAI

*for our nation father has a reason to smile all over again.

because it showed us TAPORIS can preach non-violence.

because some scripts have the tendency to coax tears and giggles at the same time.

*VIVAAH

*for Indian traditons are not lost yet.

because situational melody lives on through "DO ANJAANE"  ’n’  "MILAN ABHI AADHA"

for **SHAHID** ’n’ **AMRITA** are no flukes.

*DHOOM 2

*because VILLAINS are more heroic, when they are played by HRITHIK.

because STYLE is the ’in-thing’ in a contemporary indian movie.

because it showed **AISHWARYA** can look hot ’n’ sensous too.

*KRRISH

*for now, children have a got an indian superhero to toy around with.

because **IIMs **give their examples for a sure-shot successful formulae.

because **RAKESH ROSHAN** doesn’t care about budgets.

*GANGSTER

*because it gave us a natural in **KANGANA RANAUT**.

for it showed us that **EMRAAN HASHMI** can act too.

because **ANURAG BAS**U is here to stay.

*KABHI ALVIDA NA KEHNA*

love it or hate it, it has been the most-talked about movie of the year. [ MS is the testimony itself ]

for **JOHAR **changed lanes from FAMILY to DIVORCE with equal elan.

because **SRK, RANI ’n’ BIG B** didn’t mind playing weak-kneed characters.

*DOR

*for it showed **AYESHA TAKIA** can be a helluva performer too.

for **NAGESH KUKONOOR** is the last word when it comes to original stories.

because BOX-OFFICE doesn’t matter much. What does is a sincere portrayal of emotions.

*some other WAVE-MAKING movies last year are :-

*KHOSLA KA GHOSLA

*for **HRISHIKESH MUKHERJI** lives on through DIBAKAR BANARJEE.

for **ANUPAM KHER** is still around somewhere.

*FANAAH

*because HUM TUM was no fluke

because time has not abated **KAJOL’s** charisma.

*DON

*for we got a new DON in **SRK

*for **FARHAN** did the near impossible; added style to an already cult figure in stylish films.

*CORPORATE

*because all **BIPASHA BASU** needs is capable directors to shut her critics’s mouth.

for **BHANDARKAR **will choose the riskiest of plots, and yet come up trumps.

*JAAN-E-MANN

*for **SALMAN** does take his films seriously at times.

for **ANU MALIK’s** broadway musical sequences; not to mention **GULZAR’s** contribution.

*WOH LAMHE

*for rehashing **BHATT-BABI** dimension all over again.

for** PRITAM’s** tilting score.

*PYAR KE SIDE EFFECTS*

Because brains’n’boobs, I mean, **RAHUL BOSE ’n’ MALLIKA SHERAWAT** Can prove to a deadly duo.

*BHAGAM BHAG

*for critics may be panning **PRIYADARSHAN** now, but he is laughing his way to the bank and audience’ hearts.

*MAALAMAAL WEEKLY

*for films succeed at BOX-OFFICE even with a **zero STAR CAST**, given it is directed by PRIYADARSHAN.

hope you liked my analysis.

cheers
