The best ones of rehman

Rehman is certainly one of the best composers we have had, and the number one on current bollywood ratings. Moreover he can be described as a crossover composer concidering the global recognition he has attained. Its difficult to choose the best of his songs, but then who says reviewing is an easy job!

  1. At 10th I would put dil se. the best song, for me would be ai ajnabi. Chaiya chaiya could have been but for the’inspired’ nature of it.

  2. At 9th I would rate rangeela. This film had peppy music and some cool pieces sung by rehman himself.

  3. No 8 goes to nayak. Though this film and’shaka laka’ may not have won a place in this list had it been purely local. This song has global recognition and appeal and must feature in this list.

  4. This slot belongs to pukar. though this film was a dud, it has some very fine music.

  5. This slot will go to bombay, rehman’s first full blooded hindi film. The best song of this film was hamma hamma. This song set pattern for rehman numbers untill the versatile composer came out out typecast.

  6. On fifth I would rate sathiya. rehman uses UPian folk music perhaps for the first time in his career, and’jhoot kapat’ stands out for that reason. Though’o humdum was an outstanding song as well.

  7. On fourh I will put taal. This film had sonorous songs and they can reverberate in your mind long after you have listened to them.

  8. Third will be zubeda. This film kad perhaps the most melodious of rehman’s songs, and different from his style.

  9. This slot will go to lagan. The chosen song from this film would be o re chore. This song has unusual melody, and rehman makes good use of western classical.

  10. Must go to raja. Though might be a little bleak on the memories. But this is what rehman is all about.

Stand out one is’bharat humko’.
