They changed the face of hindi music for the worse

Well well.....i’ve stopped expecting good tracks! Why do we need music directors today? A few

instruments here and there and a person who arranges acoustics is more than enough for the job!

The face of the hindi film music has changed....its become worse than Lata Mangeshkar’s voice(she

seems to have retarded mently and sooner will be called the Crow insted of Nightingale)...And to

whom do we owe this change, but obviously for the worse, to? I opine, definately to the music

directors whom I am about to list....

And so the oscar goes to...

1.LAXMIKANT PYARELAL...

The good era(and the ear..lol)of hindi films ended with the success of this duo. Kings of

mediocre music they conquered the industry with disgustingly dull tunes in the late 60’s and

reigned till the 80’s!These guys were incapable of producing peppy numbers unlike R.D Burman’s ’’

oh haseena zulfowali’’ and thus came up with mediocure songs like ’’ hum tum ek kamre main bandh

ho’’ and ’’ choli ke peeche’’. They gave music for 500 films(dont get scared) and were successful

for a reqson I cant seem to find out!

Films:BOBBY, FARZ, KARZ.

2.RAVINDRA JAIN...

I dont care weather he was blind or not!....the fact remains that he did not give good music. The

only good music I have heard of his is probabely from the film CHITCHOR but the rest of his songs

like ’’ Raam teri ganga maili ho gayi’’ and ’’ sun sahiba sun’’ and ’’ thande thande pani se’’ were

pretty so-so!

But I definitely appreciate his will power of becoming a successful person in spite of being

handicapped!

FILMS:PATI PATNI AUR WOH, RAM TERI GANGA MAILI, CHITCHOR

3.BAPPI LAHIRI...

ah!...who can forget this guy/girl???? all jeweled up with gold and diamonds, he should be

smacked for wearing sun glares in the night! And often I wonder weather he is a music director or

a magician?? I mean the kind of clothes he wears he will give stiff compitition to the likes of

shilpa shetty in her baazigar days. He punished us with songs like ’’rambha ho ho’’ and ’’Kaanta

laga’’ (which apparantly is a very popular video now).

FILMS:LAHU KE DO RANG, JYOTI, AFLATOON

4.USHA KHANNA...

This woman gave music to z grade action flicks and was most ordinary with her tunes. Her tunes

include ’’aao pyaar kare’’ etc which failed to impress audiences. Later on she also started giving

music to low budget horror films like ’HAWAS’ which obviously are in a league of their own.

FILMS:FAISLA, HUM HINDUSTANI

5.KALYANJI ANANDJI

Namashkar ji , but no thank you ji we dont want to here u croon! These guys came in the late 50’s

and gave music for a long time thus saving us the money of buying cassets!...They gave mindless

songs with very ordinary tunes like ’’dum dum diga diga’’ which unfortunately for us and

fortunately for them turned out to be chartbusters which revieved their position in the industry

for a long time.

FILMS:EK SHRIMAN EK SHRIMATI, RAAZ, BAAZI

6.NADEEM SHRAVAN...

Nadeem and shravan are extreamly popular among masses and thus have survived in the industry

despite many hardships.

I personally detest their music because its of a very local and cheap quality ment for front

benchers who chew paan parag. All rikshawwallhas seem to like it and thus I have to bear with

songs like ’’aankh hai bhari bhari’’ and ’’ ashiqui ke liye’’ while commuting....sometimes if I cant

tolerate it I tell them to stop but they say ’’accha gana hai...bhawna hai bahut’’. And on top of

that if they rope in Kumar sanu, nausia wont take long to attack...

FILMS: AASHIQUI, DHADKAN, RAAZ, EK RISHTA

7.ANAND RAJ ANAND...

This guys is the death of hindi music. His music is far from pleasing to the ears. When you listen

to his songs you can very easily guess that this guy thinks of his job, well as just a job and

not a hobby!....Why otherwise would he pulverise us with disgusting tracks like ’’amche amche prem

chhe prem chhe’’, ’’hello hello bol ke’’ etc etc. He also has very few hummable songs to his credit

like ’’ishq samandar’’ from kaante! This guy has yet to find a place for himself in the industry and

thus does pop albums with artists(???) like Shweta shetty etc...

FILMS:KAANTE, QILA, PARDESI BABU...

8.RAMLAXMAN...

What can be said about about this guy?? I think he is here due to sheer luck. His songs have been

hits....but I fail to understand? He gave music to songs like ’’kabutar ja ja ja’’ and ’’abcdefghi’’

and ’’Didi tera dewar dewaana’’....sorry to say but these songs dont come anywhere close to what is

called as melodious. They had a very short lived popularity and to me they were unhereable....i’d

rather here a donkey bray.

FILMS: All rajshri films like HUM APKE HAIN KAUN, MAINE PYAR KIYA AND The saccharine sweet family

drama HUM SATH SATH HAIN.

9.ADESH SHRIVASTAV...

Adesh Shrivastav is one of the worst music directors of our times. His songs neither have

character nor tune....they are just a mindless mix match of indipop and rap music which fails to

apeal!.Some of his curses to humanity include ’’ shava shava’’ from k3g and ’’main kuwaraa..’’

He is one of the most mediocure music directors i’ve heard and you feel equally frustrated and

sad that these guys cant even come close to composing even remotely melodious songs.Though to

save us from tears he has come up with decent numbers in his new release CHALTE CHALTE, though

roping in Abhijeet(another guy I detest) to sing all the numbers was a sad decision.

FILMS: GHULAM, KUWARA, BADE DILWALA.

10.VIJU SHAH...

And last but not the least....to end the list, this guy came up with utterly forgettable numbers

with most of his films which also happened to be duds at the box office leaving some decent ones

like GUPT aside. We had to bear with ’’tu cheez badi hai mast mast’’ which I cant listen to, for

more than half a second. Also the vaugely accented ’’o prriya priya’’ from KPNHJ was a sad number!

FILMS:MOHRA, HADH, TRIDEV.

I had also thaught of adding Anu mullick and Jatin Lalit but did not for 2 reasons-

  1. They do come up with decent songs once in a while like DDLJ, KKHH etc and Anu mullick with

FILHAAL , YAADEIN etc..though he does tend to steal songs!

  1. There wouldn’t have been too many left if I had added these two too in my ’’worst list’’

I feel hindi music is deteriorating very rapidly with very ordinary tracks comming up which have

a very very small life span. A ’’didi tera dewar diwana’’ wont be remembered after 50 years like

how’’aayega anewala’’ or ’’mera naam chinchin chu’’ are!
