TERMINATED- A review on the Terminator 3 - rise of the machines

The Terminator III was released last year and I couldn?t watch it in the theatres as my exams were on. the Terminator II - Judgment day, was one of my all time favorite action films. And I was expecting this film to be even better. So I was very happy when I saw that the movie was to be shown on the HBO days back.. Sad to say, I was not at all impressed after seeing the film. Just got an average feeling....
It could be just that the Terminator II was such a huge hit that it was impossible to perform up to the expectations of the people. But this movie in no way can be compared to the Terminator or Judgement day.
The storyline of the movie goes like this....
Humans have been successful in creating artificial intelligence. A company called Skynet systems get a microchip which is far advanced than any other, and the research based on this leads to the artificially intelligent computer called skynet.
Skynet has been given complete control of America’s defense system. It goes online, and begins to learn at a geometrical rate. It becomes self aware. It launches America’s missiles at the targets in Russia. Russia responds by launching nuclear attack on America.
The war between the machines and humans has begun . the humans are led by a very efficient man called John Conner. Skynet sent a terminator back through time to kill Conner twice, before he was born and in his childhood. Both times, the opposition manages to protect him.
Judgement day is nearing. A terminator is sent back through time to kill John before Judgement day. And Arnold is sent back through time to protect him. Both of the machines engage in their machines as judgement day becomes inevitable.
The role has been performed brilliantly by Arnold ( his full name.... Man its so confusing. Just try writing it in every line of the review). But in my personal opinion the negative role has been wasted by given it to an actress. ( I don’t know her name)
It was very obvious that Arnold will be the hero of the movie, but a negative heroine, and that too, for doing action scenes with this well built guy. Don’t know who came up with this kind of an idea. All it does is to bring some kind of skin show into the film.
The Judgement day was an action movie that could be watched by the whole family. Not this one. Atleast not in the beginning. The actress for the negative role gets sent back through time as a nude girl, and she comes to the streets out of nowhere, with nothing on her. Even in judgement day, when Arnold had to do this naked stuff, the director was not tempted to this kind of a skin show. Here the girl is shown completely naked from the back and front.... Anyway the stuff was enough ( I live in India, remember?) to get me into trouble, with my father turning off the television.
O.k., leave the part. The director also seem to be confused as to what his storyline was. The resistance is led by John Conner and that is the very reason behind the terminators going after him. But in this part, the director says that John had been killed before judgement day. May be he should have thought more about it.
The special effects of the film are pretty good. Now this is a huge budget film. It was made to break the record of Pearl Harbor for the biggest budget for a Hollywood film. The sound effects are also good. But not even comparable to that of the Judgement day. And the legendary tune of the terminator series which had won many hearts and honours has not been used to its full potential, as it had been done in Judgement day
This is the last of Arnold’s films. So, if anyone wants to get a glimpse of his action, this film is worth watching. Otherwise, it is only an average film. But it would be a pity to have missed out on series of the three movies, which made the ’’terminator- part man part machine’’ into a legendary character.
