TGI Friday is really cool!

My thoughts just before entering TGI Friday in Delhi: uh oh, just another pub. Same kinda cocktails , not so good food.

But I was pleasantly surprised. being a Mumbaiite, Mondegar and Leopolds are the best you can get to sit and talk to friends over a couple of beers - something you really can’t do at discos.

I went to both the Vasant Vihar outlet and the Connaught Place outlet and I’d definitely recommend Vasant Vihar. it’s much bigger and more happening with a very lively atmosphere.

I didn’t pay much attention to the ambience - there are booths and tables.

The menu has loads of variety though I didnt eat anything except for the starters which are really amazing. I’d definitely recommend the Potato skins, fried Mozarella and the Tangy chicken wings. there’s a platter where you can get all three. That’s really good.

I haven’t tried anything except the appetizers but for a peek at the menu go to https://tgifindia.com

The cocktails are a bit pricey - abt 250 bucks. But it’s almost the same price at most similar pubs or bars in bbay with a whole lot of variety.

For real Value for Money , you should go during Happy hour. For whatever drink you order, you get another (same drink) free. I think there’s a rule during happy hour like each person has to finish your drink or at least be halfway through one before ordering another. (one person can’t order 2-3 drinks at a time and get the rest free). But the waiter who attended us was quite flexible and let us order when we were halfway through our drinks (and the clock was ticking way towards the end of happy hour!) Found that to be a nice attitude towards customers unlike in some places where you’re treated as though you’re trying to rip a free drink off the pub!!

The waiters are really is really helpful and though we stumbled in 4-5 mins before happy hour could end, helped us get a seat very fast and took our order before the deadline very efficiently. I was quite impressed. The cocktails are good. esp the Long island iced tea.

It’s a family place so there’s a nice mix of people - the ’cool crowd’, young couples with kids, teens. middle aged people. etc.

I read that TGI Friday is opening 30 outlets in India and two in Mumbai by the end of this year. I can’t wait for them to get here real soon!
