Today I wish to share my review on the movie named THAANAA SERNDHA KOOTTAM released on 12th January 2018 directed by vignesh shivan through studio green.
If you see the story of this movie, it is a remake of Special 26 named hindi movie directed by neeraj. That story was based on a true story happened at north india in the year 1987. A gang of robbers saying themselves as income tax officers doing fake rides at several locations by rolling several crores from them & gets escape. Our CBI takes several actions to catch the gang but till today they have failed to catch them and the case is still pending. On keeping this true incidence added to spice up with some imaginary charachers taken as a story in this entire movie.
But if you see that movie named special 26 you wont feel any imaginary because while watching I felt it as real. Now coming to the movie Thaana serndha koottam and difference between special 26 with this movie is on that movie the very small characters are well designed according to the story. All the characters really merged with movie on special 26 but in this movie it was full and full taken for the hero only.
In tamil cinema the director who takes the movie based on heroism will have only two chances of ways ie., one is the hero charachterized must be too good person and manly type throughout the entire movie. Director must always lift up the hero character to a height of heroism. Another way is nothing but this same way. So according to the ways in this movie to safegard hero character the steps taken by the director was actually on special 26 a character with hero named anubamkam charachter involved, if the same character was involved in this present movie then I think audience will give 5star to that particular character instead of hero.
So to avoid such circumstance I think director of present movie has changed the particular character into female. They have replaced ramyakrishnan in place of anubamkam character. In special 26 To find that gang they have involved manoj bajpayee character for a sincere and dedicated officer. If you see that character on screen, we feel ourself that he will definetly catch the robbers gang. How gang is going to escape from manojbajpayee gives us lots of time sequels to speed up the Movie.
But in this present movie that particular manoj bajpayee character has been changed into two different characters. One is suresh menon and another one is karthick. But both characters looks unfit on screeny to catch the robbers gang. So this itself losed the strength of this movie.
In special 26 they did not give much stress for why they become robbers but in this movie each single character has shown with their own flashback. Hero has flashback, heroine has flashback & even the police officer has also have flashback because directed wanted to show all characters are good in according to their own justice but in special 26 only hero has a flashback that also for only 2minute and why they become robbers has no flashback to reduce the length which was really a good thing and the story was going on its own good way but in case of thaana serndha koottam movie director wished to show every character as good type. So they were only concentrating on that part and left the story part to be concentrated.
On special 26 there was a scene which states the title of the movie. On that scene manoj bajpayee smiles in an angle with a great look which itself gave 1000 meaning to that scene but in thaana serndha kootam movie they missed and failed to show such good scenes which was another drawback.
On special 26 movie, kajal agrawal was the heroine given with just 4 to 5 scenes and those scenes itself she performed a fully stuffed performance which was good at screen while watching but in thaana serndha koottam movie, heroine comes from starting till ending with no stuff feel on her screenplay.
Similarly on special 26, background music was a big plus point but in thaana serndha koottam I found a big lagging of background music.
Overall, Thana serndha koottam is a best remake flop movie. If you watch this movie without watching special 26 then its one time watchable movie to see actor surya’ s heroism. Else, if you previously watched special26 then dont go to this movie because you will get anger on director definetly. So dont try.
