This is based more on personal experiences rather than opinions / experiences heard and read!
I used to find it to be a good joint for a wholesome lunch mostly n dinner rarely...with two types of lunch..one the limited version @ 40 bucks and an unlimited thali @ 65 bucks. I used to like the ’unlimited’ as the helping was generous and becoz the quality of the curries is quite good, u feelike having as much as u want...one can really check outer limit of his/her appetite.The unlimited option is applicable/practical only if you r really hungry, o’wise don’try this option.
Also, its very accessible, just outside Thane(west) stn, there is this Ashok Talkies.....very near that is our Thali!
The general ambience is soothing/inviting but the sitting arrangement (now) looks more like a canteen layout rather than a restaurant! Earlier, the arrangement was much better...but they chose to have the current set-up.
The hygiene level is very high, the dishes clean, the water decently cold....their internal communication is ’coded’ for respective items making it fast, almost silent (except their claps) and different !
One thing I didn’t/don’t like is that they ask u take coupons before u even take ur place! Its sometimes irritating as one feels like settling down, take some time thinking over which option to have and then order, .....its not possible here !
Also, there is no music to accompany you during ur stay ! I personally like it wherever there’s music ! It can really add a lot of...’derived’ meaning ( if u r alone...sets u off thinking)...feeling of comfort (when u r waiting)....especially when the music is instrumental...ghazals....oldies....etc!
Overall, a very high quality food joint with lot of items (starters, main course items with roti/rice helped with nice n fresh ghee, buttermilk/chaas, bowl of dessert, chatnees, pickles...etc etc).
Nowadays, I find that its not that crowded.....is it a coincidence-of-my-findings or a reality of its not-so-preferred status-now !??? Lemme know while u write the comments........but definitely worth a try atleast once !!!
