I heard a passing mention of ’The Alchemist’ and as usual at the mention of a book my ears stood up ... :)) .. the name got etched in my heart as my next must-have book...
and would you all believe ...the very next evening strolling idly along a quiet street..i found the book..it just jumped towards me out of the display...
is it a coincidence ? or is it the ’Whole Universe conspiring to help me do what my heart wants the most ??’ ..
It is not an exaggeration...but the central theme of the book ’The Alchemist’ ...
That - Should a man listen to his heart..
Try to follow his dream...
Despite all the seen and unseen obstacles..
Not stopping at the stage where he is reasonably happy without his dream (by some other things..like love , wealth)
Is willing to sacrifice his possessions again and again for his goal...
THEN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE WILL HELP HIM REALISE HIS DREAM !!!
He can turn lead to gold...turn himself into wind..IF HE SO DESIRES...!!!
This theme is put so nicely ..with the help of such a simplistic parable..that it won my heart !!
Santiago - the protagonist is so dear with all his ohh-so-human traits :- ’self-doubt’ , ’humor’, ’self-deprecation’, ’pure simple desire to be with the loved one’, ’fear of unknown’, ’desire to learn’ - from anybody ( people, books, sheep :)) ) ...
What more can I say..just check this book out...definitely worth whatever you pay for it !!
