Hi Friends. Its Kavi here. First of all I wud like to say that I wont write a review as long as the book itself. :-D I found this book on my friends shelf, the name was really attractive and the cover appealing. So, I decided to read the book. I went to the WORDSWORTH and bought myself a copy for Rs. 195.
I think this is a pretty good book with not even a single page that would make you yawn. Unlike other books which are age or taste specific, I found this book to be really different and indulging too. I couldnt take a break and finished the book in one go. The book is not too big like others. It is just 177 pages. The only thing that you require is atleast a little faith in God otherwise itll become just another fairytale for u. In the story, a boy named Santiago goes in search for worldly treasure, and the two thing that he finds are worth much more than all the treasures kept together.
This book tells about harmony b/w man and nature and also about the universal language that everything can speak. Youll feel more close to nature. after reading.
It teaches you about God and his working and how he helps us is attaining our goals through omens. It is only us who should be careful to watch out for them.
It tells you not to lose hope under any circumstances.
The writing style of Paulo Coelho is so good that while reading youll feel urself in the story. Everything just moves in front of ur eyes. The language simple and lucid.
Like other things it too has some cons:
it tells you to follow ur dreams and I think that it is something odd as u just cannt go running after ur dreams ( I once dreamt of marrying Aishwarya Rai)
it is somewhat superstitious too as it tells u to follow omens and also about the truth of alchemy, philosophers stone, elixir of life etc.
This book should be read by older people as they can understand the true meaning and the apirituality. Whatever this is probably the best book I have read and I URGE you to read it.
