I initially watched this film with my husband because it is one of his favorites. The first time I saw it, I stayed confused through a good portion of the movie, but it eventually makes sense. It definitely ranks high on my rewatchability scale. The cast is great. Jeff Bridges (as The Dude) and John Goodman play off one another, as well as Steve Buscemi, very well. There is also a splash of Julianne Moore and John Turturro, along with others, and as is par for the course of a Coen brothers movie, the film easily keeps your attention. The plot unfolds, from the simplicity of The Dude getting back his rug, into a fanfare of events. I would recommend this movie be watched at least twice to get the full scoop, and be prepared to laugh and enjoy a well-written script performed by an experienced and believable cast.
