First Timer at Dan Brown

I was not much of a Dan Brown Fan nor had much heard about him. Chanced to see the India today rating of best fiction and Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code figured at the top.I thought let me try this one out.

Fortunately the opening of the book was quite racing so I got riveted to reading the whole thing in a day.

The plot is good, racing and full of suspense. However at times it becomes difficult to distinguish facts from reality. At time it appears Author is diving into history where in the novel is supposedly a work of fiction. Some of the stuff is quite controversial true with references to Churches, Christianity and Jesus and relationships of Jesus .

The plot itself is about a Harvard Professor who teaches Symbology at Harvard. He is suspected of murder of a Paris Museum Curator . A French Crypto Analyst who is related to curator comes to know of the murder and realizes Professor ( Robert Langdon ) is innocent.

Bulk of the story then is their continous run from the police and how they managed to get away just by a Frisker. The plot moves to London where the Holy Grail is supposed to lay.

Robert’s and Sofia’s mission is to discover the holy grail and dispel myths surrounding the holy grail.

The path to holy grail is itself shrouded in clever riddles created by the master curator who was also a member of Priory of Sion.

For me the book was also a learning experience about symbology, the world of paintings, Leonardo Da Vinci, The Louvre and some facts(?) about christianity and the Holy Grail.
