I have read/seen the DaVinci code, have studied and always been interested in the works of Leonardo DaVinci. I was glad, as a pagan woman, that these concepts came out.
I compared the Mary from the Virgin of the Rocks painting to [ahem] John from The Last Supper if you look these two figures ARE one in the same. It really amazed me as thus far in Dan Burnsteins The Secret Code: DaVinci Code Unveilled doesnt mention the absolute identical posture and look of these two figures. The only differences myself and my fiancee can see are that the clothes are different (colored). So I wonder why it would be so evil or shocking to find out that women can do things, are important and deserve space as equals to men?
This has been a theme throughout history...keep strong, independent women oppressed and in fear so they cant own land or God forbid have anything NEAR true power over or in concert with men.
In my opinion, women have always been shoved to the back burner in history, society, and life so that we and our contributions are not important or not AS important as a mans.
If one looks to the pagan Goddess focused societies, they would find men and women living more in harmony with one another, playing more off one another strengths then trying to tear down one another - instead of saying "men are destroyers, women are lifegivers" its more like, men are physically strong and women are resilient.
I just cant see what the uproar is about in the DaVinci code if it came to light that Yeshua Ha Nostri was married, had children and was just a man?
Why couldnt his mother have just been a woman?
To me, in my own opinion, Dan Brown wasnt tearing down Christianity, but making it accessible to common people, and yes, even women.
My knowing is that all the world needs to live by is one rule, the Golden Rule (i.e. Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you) - if, in my utopian dream this were true...what problems or controversies would exist?
But no, its always that someone will have the seed of greed or need or desire for power over another sigh...and so Ill just continue to dream.
Perhaps the reason Christ would return as a lion and not a lamb is that hed be pissed that everyone call his wife a whore for almost 2000 years and his best friend a backstabber? Im pretty sure if I was him, Id be angry too. LOL....
