"You can leave your hat on"... that pretty much sums up what the guys do at the end of this extremely funny flick ! :D
For those who love brit humour, this ones a gem... and I just adore Shaun of the Dead in the brit comedy genre!
In a small town where the steel mills shut down forcing our 6 leads into joblessness, a male strip act called Chippendale galvanizes them into action and us into laughs. The actors, unknown at the time, are immensely likeable. The characters they portray make us empathise with them at once - one has a kid staying with his ex-wife whose support he can hardly pay, another worries about his weight, yet another cannot tell his wife that he has lost his job 6 months ago ! The lead guy, Gaz, chances upon the Chippendales act and organises a troupe of his own to earn some quick money...
How he does that and what happens in the audition/rehearsal scenes will send you into splits... the name of the movie might put some off but it is a heartwarming and well-done movie. The music is great and ’Hot Stuff’ and ’You can leave your hat on’ are fit in perfectly with the on-goings.
This flick won Best Musical and I’m not surprised. Not for those who like Adam Sandler/Mike Myers comedies... this one builds up quietly but with immense fun :D When the going gets tough, the tough get going !!!
