Grand Dim Sum Buffet

Wrong city, but the name of the restaurant is almost the same, so here goes.........

Well, we came across this great new restaurant here in Florida the other night. It’s called GRAND DIM-SUM BUFFET.

It’s one of those new all you can eat places. $11.99 (US) for all you can eat dinner! Who could ask for anything more?

When you walk in you are seated in either the smoking or non smoking dining room, asked what you would like to drink, (and the drinks were refilled over and over without ever having to ask!) You are then shown where the dishes and utensils are kept, and then you are left to ’’Pig Out!’’

You can start at the soup bar where there were 5 different kinds of soup. From Won Ton to Tomato Vegetable to Hot and Sour, etc. You can then walk on over to the appetizers which were, cold peel and eat shrimp, steamed or raw mussels or oysters, egg rolls, spare ribs or sushi, plus many more items.

Next came the main courses. There was everything from fried rice to prime rib roast, and everything in between! And let me tell you, we tried everything! I had some wonderful shrimp in lobster sauce, I had some curried lamb, spicy chicken, green beans in onion and almond sauce, turnip patties and a ton of sushi!

There was also about 6 different pork dishes and beef dishes. You also had a selection of about 10 or 12 vegetarian dishes, like fried tofu with water chestnuts and mushrooms, steamed vegetables in oyster sauce and garlic, and my favorite, sticky rice balls.

They even had an American style carving area where you could get prime roast beef.

There was a selection of about 20 different types of Dim Sum as well. (Hence, the name of the restaurant) For those who don’t know, Dim Sum is ground beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, lobster, etc., formed into a little ball and wrapped in a paper thin rice paper and steamed. YUMMY!

You could also choose from a regular cold salad bar, and add some cold marinated shrimp, scallops or octopus to zest up your salad. Along with all the salad extras like, croutons, sunflower seeds, and different dressings.

Last, but not least, they had a dessert bar too! 3 different kinds of cake, 2 kinds of cheesecake, jello, and a make your own sundae ice cream bar.(But, who had room?)

The restaurant itself was nicely done up in muted shades of red, with green and black accents. Plenty of seating and a full service bar. The restaurant and the restrooms were immaculate!

There is also a beautiful salt water fish aquarium greeting you as you walk in, loaded with bright and unusual fish.

If you’re ever in the ’’Coral Springs’’ area of South Florida, I suggest you stop in to Grand Dim Sum Buffet for a great, inexpensive meal! You’ll never go hungry here! (Open 7 days a week, until 10:30 P.M.)

This sure made me hungry for some great food!
