The story revolves around Major Arun Khanna(Sunny Deol), an army intellegence officer posted in Kashmir.He has been posted there to keep track of the terrorists activities across the border.He falls in love with a Kashmiri girl, Reshma(Preity Zinta), who soon becomes a part of his network.Reshma basically, was a Hindu girl whose name was Rashmi but when her parents died her Muslim neighbours brought her up and kept her name Reshma.Reshma is sent across the border as part of a strategy, but soon the plan fails and Reshma finds herself exposed to the militants who are Ishaq Khan(Amrish Puri), Maulana Azhar(Khalid Mohammed)and Wasim Khan(Rajat Bedi).However, Reshma escapes from their clutches and prison and is saved by Major Arun Khanna.Major Arun Khanna and Reshma get engaged but during the celebrations, the militants explode the place and Reshma is feared dead.However, Reshma is very much alive and reaches the shores of Pakistan.She is saved by a Pakistani called Salman(Parvin Dabbas), but due to a shock, she cannot use her limbs.Salman takes Reshma to Canada and over there, Major Arun Khanna also reaches, to search Ishaq Khan.The doctor treating Reshma is a Pakistani Muslim doctor Shaheen(Priyanka Chopra), who is the daughter of Zakaria(Kabir Bedi).Zakaria is an accomplice of Ishaq Khan.Major Arun Khanna does not know whether Reshma is alive or not so, Major Arun Khanna befriends Shaheen and plans to marry her, to have an access to Wasim Khan but soon Ishaq Khan gets to know Major Arun Khanna`s true identity.What will happen next?What will The Hero, Major Arun Khanna do next?
The story of the film is exciting and the film has been directed in an excellent way by Anil Sharma.It was impossible for any director of Bollywood to make a film like The Hero, but it is Anil Sharma who dared to make a film like this.Shaktimaan`s screenplay is also good!The dialogues are clapworthy.Allan Amin`s action sequences are praiseworthy and Kabir Lal`s cinematography is just SUPERB!Uttam Singh`s music and Javed Akhtar and Late Anand Bakshi`s lyrics are just fine.The soundtrack is not so good but if we see the movie, then we realize that they are all situational.The picturization of the songs is amazing, especially, ’’In Mast Nigahon Se’’and the former Miss World Priyanka Chopra looks gorgeous in it!
And Now the performances!Sunny Deol breathes life into this character of Major Arun Khanna!The role fits him like a glove and he does full justice to it.His several get_ups in the movie are praiseworthy.Sunny Deol, in this flick has proved that if given a good role, he is excellent!Preity Zinta as Reshma looks cute and very innocent and she really looks like a Kashmiri girl.She looks like what she is playing!Performancewise also, she is fantastic!Priyanka Chopra as Shayne looks glamorous and oozes style.She is in a supporting role but still she makes a confident debut!Amrish Puri is first_rate and his face expressions are perfect.This is another good performance by him after playing Mogambo in Mr.India.Kabir Bedi, Rajat Bedi, Khalid Mohammed and Pravin Dabbas lend commendable support!Rajpal Yadav is also good!
On the whole, The Hero_Love Story Of A Spy is a film, not to be missed.Watch this movie on the big screen for pure entertainment!The film has it all in it_drama, action, romance etc.so just go for it!After all we are talking about the HERO....how can he ever disappoint us???
