Hip Asia is the oriental resto at Taj Connemara near Spencers Plaza. If you ever feel like splurging, come here. Its a kind of fusion cuisine - Vietnamese/ Thai /Japanese cuisine ... very interesting food choices like batter-fried tempura sushi roll and chicken wrapped in pandanus leaves... they have a limited-seated teppayaki counter too, which needs reservations ahead.
Their recent addition, called the the Bento Lunch (as served in the Far East, esp. Japan), is quite good. I had the veg version of it a couple of weeks ago.
Soup - Veg clear soup - just like how they serve it in Thailand...
Salad - Chef’s special salad - extremely good, special salad dressing which had me licking the plate clean (star hotel manners be damned...)
Main course - A huge plate with 4 sections - noodles, stir-friend vegetables, a gravy and yummy tempura veggies. I cdn’t finish them, so had them packed and finished it off for dinner!
Dessert - A sinfully long glass of cream brulee (moussee?). Excellent stuff, but couldn’t eat more than half of it... had to sadly part with it...
It was quite funny, the very next day after my bento lunch was the ad for it in The Hindu... I remember feeling very whacky that I had preceded an ad and tasted the product, lol..
Bottom line - Best place to impress somebody
Price - Rs 775 + tax for nonveg and Rs 725 + tax for veg. Of course, if you want to go to one of the Taj hotels, one should really not look at the wallet... to avoid heart attacks...
