I'm invisible for now!

INTRODUCTION

This one may be the first science fiction I have ever read when I was a small kid and I did love it. I had been reading too much books on those days. In the story, the author H.G.Wells tells us the story of an invisible villain, not an invinsible superhero. The story sends us to an unbelievable world of an invisible man who is a mysterious character for all those who meets him.

The story was a good one when I first read it, but it didn’t stay like that when I read it the next time. I guess that these type of books will not do for reading many times as it becomes an ordinary story when you read it next time. Invisibility seems to be a major factor of science fictions.

THE AUTHOR

Herbert George Wells is considered as the father of science fiction and he deserves the spot from ’’The Invisible man’’, ’’The time machine (a novel on a time travel) and ’’The war of the worlds’’ (a novel of an invasion of Martians). ’’The first men on the moon’’ (1901) was prophetcy of space travel, and ’’The war in the air’’ (1908) predicted the importance of air forces in combat and not to forget ’’The island of Dr.Moreau’’ (1896) and ’’The holy terror’’ (1939).

What he has done in his books is that he has made people think about the state in which the humans will be in with the high level development of science and technology. He is one of those few writers who made the readers think along with the entertainment in the book.

His imaginations and ideas seemed to have no bounds and is quite different from the other writers. We will find it in his books. There is no better author who can write science fictions than this one, I think. A number of his books were filmed.....

THE STORY

Grifin, a young scientist had been working on invisiblity and achieved it after some long hardwork. He studied about how eyes work, how colourless substances like sun rays are invisible etc in his series of experiments and finally his efforts proved useful when he was able to do what he wanted.

He became invisible just like he always dreamt of in his life. But he couldn’t enjoy the privilege for long as he had to face the consequences of being invisible. Walking without clothes in winter makes him get cold and dogs chase him from his smell, so does people from his foot prints appearing.

Every one and carts runs into him like routine. Now he wants to get back to a normal person after creating chaos in the town. Can he become a normal man again? Or will he continue creating chaos in the town?

What are the things waiting for him? ow many people will have to face the invisible man? What more plans will be running through his ’’specialised’’ brain? They are not the hardest questions. You can try and guess them, but do read the book after thinking about it.

CHARACTERS

Griffin was somewhat a selfish person who wanted to get invisible so that he could do anything without fearing anybody and do anything he likes. He was a brilliant scientist, but he didn’t use his brian for the good future of the mankind. There are lots of field where his type of people can be useful, but he just went through the wrong way. Finding a way to get invisible was not that much bad, but what he did after that was quite the actions of a crazy fellow.

Dr.Kemp is another character we come across who wants to keep his word to Griffin by not showing him to the police as well as understands the need to get the man caught for the horror he is creating across the town. He is caught between two minds and can you imagine what he will do?

The other characters with some importance are Thomas Marvel, the co-worker of the invisible man in his crime life and Mrs Hall who is the owner of the cottage where he lived for some time. But they are not in the scene for very much of time and they have only a bit to do with the story.

CONCLUSION

If you are looking for a science fiction, you can’t avoid this book (It makes me remember about Gayab, Oh my god, not that). The theme of the story is the most interesting aspects as it has got something that people always wanted - to get in anywhere, anytime in anyways you like without being noticed.....but the story has a hidden cocept - what you will have to pay for being invisible.....as it goes through both sides of the coin at the same time.

Science too has the duel nature (I have heard about the sword with two heads), so it is very important to use it wisely enough to get away from any possible disasters that awaits us.....
