Martian is a sci-fi novel written by Andy Weir, and it got fair amount of attention. This book takes place in near the future where humans are now doing a man mission to Mars and the book starts off at the very first chapter with an astronaut name Mark Watney who get left behind on a mission due to an accident. He was left on his own on the planet Mars and from there he attempts to survive and live on Mars until the next mission can hopefully bring him home.
From the start of the story I was completely pulled into the narrative, this novel is generally classified as science fiction, but I will also include it in the thriller genre. It really kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was always anxiously trying to get back to read this novel because I always wanted to know what will happen next and I had absolutely no idea how the book was going to end, which I absolutely love not being able to predict the ending.
Even if you generally don’t enjoy science fiction you might really enjoy this book, I will barely would describe Martian as science fiction just because there is no alien and no super advance futuristic technology, the technology is very close to what we have now and it is very realistic. Even though there is quite a bit science theory and technology is discussed in this book I was able to go along with the story and I was able to make assumptions on how it will work.
I will love to re read it someday, and will highly recommend you to read it if you are interested in survival novels.
