A well-done, original, philosophical slam-bang thriller concerning a computer hacker, Neo Anderson, who realizes he is a part of a virtual reality called the Matrix which is designed by the machines to use humans as the power source.
The movie follows him as he tries to find out the answers to what the Matrix really is and what his role is.
The film was the first to use wide view cameras with slow motion during the fight scenes which started the whole trend. The action sequences are very well shot with most of them having attained the cult status by now.
Keanu Reeves with his child in wonderland expressions and later developing into the person who he is destined to be, is perfect for the part, as he looks effortlessly relaxed in the revolutionary action sequences in the history.
Lawrence Fishburne with his cool, calm, knowing everything demeanour, is perfect as Neos mentor, believing in him, teaching him and guiding him through his path to his destiny.
Its not perfect but then it redefines the whole generation of movies to follow it and surely deserves the cult status it has attained.
