Built on the edge of Lake Pichola with a sublime view of the lake palace, the city palace complex, and the ghats, the Oberoi Udaivilas is one of the most luxurious and exclusive hotels in India. This hotel is perhaps the best I’ve stayed in.With numerous domes, a massive marble lotus pond in the courtyard, and elegantly furnished rooms, this is a contemporary palace in its own right. The service was impeccable and friendly. Staff, dressed in traditional clothes, have an unusual old-world courtesy and genuine concern for the welfare of guests. The restaurant serves delicious Continental and Indian food. If you decide to go, there are two types of rooms - one with a semi-private pool and the other without. The ooms are exactly the same but its kinda nice to walk out of your room and into a pool overlooking the lake. In terms of location and view , the best rooms with semi-private pools are 102-118 (even numbers only) and the best standard rooms are 103-117 (odd numbers) as they are close to the spa pool, which is gorgeous and also overlooks the lake. If you’re looking for something special, this is it. And, by the way, the lakes are full!’’
