The Power of Positive Thinking was originally written in the early 50s and its message of the power of ones thoughts has been expanded and refined in numerous books since then.
This was one of the first motivational books I ever read. Its filled with anecdotes and numerous references to God and praying. This is because the author is/was a Christian minister. (Im not sure if hes still alive or not.)
This is a good book for a Christian who has never read anything about the power of ones thoughts or for the student of motivational works who wants to be familiar with some of the major motivational books of this century. It can easily be found at second hand bookstores.
However, I believe that the majority of readers will find this book overly simplistic and not as helpful or as interesting as many of the recent bestsellers in this area.
Dr. Peale has written numerous books on the same subject. One of my favorites was Enthusiasm Makes The Difference.
However, I believe there are too many other excellent books to spend ones time on this one. Two of my favorite authors in this subject area are Saun Covey and Susan Jeffers who wrote Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway.
