I am a big fan of Leonardo DiCaprio and his nomination for an Oscar with the movie made me watch it. I went to watch the movie only for his performance and he didnt let me down at all. He fights his way through the movie with his brilliant performance right from the start, where he fights for his sons identity, then with grizzly bear to save his colleagues and then with the harsh climate/ his own physical wounds to have his revenge on his colleague who killed his son and left him to die in the harsh cold weather.
He surely deserves the Oscar for the movie and glad that he got his hands on the black lady. The plot is not an interesting one but what makes it a stand out is the performance by the actors and also the emotions that each of them portray for their character, be it the hardheartedness of John Fitzgerald(Tom Hardy), the strong fighting spirit of Glass(Caprio) and the bold leadership of Captain Andrew Henry(Domhnall Gleeson). The cold heartedness of the harsh winter is beautifully captured because of the brilliant cinematography. Watch it and if you have any complaints, you would tend to forget it for the sheer brilliance in performance of the lead actor.
