It's just a jump to the left........

There has never since been a film of this kind with the sort of cult following that it enjoys. Inspired by the stage play by Richard O’Brien is the film of the same name, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This irreverent, non- PC film crosses the line in so many ways - I love it!

This was the first motion picture for the now famous Tim Curry, who plays Frank-n-furter (our “sweet transvestite”), and early in the careers of Susan Sarandon (Janet Weiss), Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors) and Meatloaf (Eddie).

The film begins at a wedding that Janet and Brad are attending - from there they head out to see a friend, and of course, get a flat tire (and we all know what to scream at Brad when he realizes this). The fun begins from there....

There’s a light (music in the background, can’t you hear it?) in the window of an old mansion - they go ask to use the phone. This is where they meet up with Riff-Raff (Richard O’Brien), Magenta (Patricia Quinn) and the others.

This movie crosses gender borders and is wonderfully irreverent. Tim Curry delivers a magnificent performance (he should; he had lots of practice on stage with this one). If you have never experienced this in a theater, you must try to find one that still shows Rocky Horror late at night. Bring a bunch of friends, trust me, it will be a hoot.

I had the pleasure of playing with the 2 disc DVD version of this. There were tons of special features including the commentary by Richard O’Brien and Patricia Quinn, the response prompt (ever wonder what to say and when to say it?), and my favorite part - The Theatrical Experience. Every time a pair of white lips would appear in the corner of the screen this feature will take you to an actual theater to see all of the folks participating while watching. Pretty funny! Also, on the second disc there were outtakes, interviews, a pop-up video of Meatloaf and a very interesting documentary.

Do the Time Warp again! Go experience this if you haven’t, do it again if you have! This B-movie is a fantasy to treasure forever.
