Its funny , its boring, its dark, its snobbish, its senseless, its hardhitting at times, its whacky, its sober, its slow , its crazy , its confusing, its straightfoward, its loud, its simple, its complicated, its dumb, its a masterpiece, its a comedy of errors, I loved it at times, I hated it at times, I giggled, I cursed , I wished it ended sometimes , its eccentric, its intelligent, its hallow, yet it had an underlying strong message, its a drama, its a serious movie, its a series of spoofs, it deserves a single star in one scene, it deserves 5 stars the next, Gene HAckman is over the top and rocks(isnt it strange to associate such words with GEne!!! but you will know what I mean when you see him in this movie) , Gweneth Paltrow is cool with a capital C and she just shines in her role, for Ben stiller you will be surprised and cast in a seriously damn funny role.
This movie is a snapshot of a family of wierd charecters.ITs about a father trying to make up his folly of not paying attention to his personal life and trying to woo back his lost lorn family too late in his life.ITs a sad reflection of family values, particularly relevant to west .The movie has a faint storyline , yet addresses a lot of issues and has lot of interpretations .If Gweneth Paltrow’s life may look totally topsy turvyand royally fed up , the other way of looking may be thats the way of really making most of one’s life with no strings attached and living it to the fullest by not caring a damn for the world.Gene HAckamn just accepts that soemtimes life may offer no second chances and one should not ruin repenting it. It has many such shades and hell a lot of charecters in the movie with their own unique different outlook towards life. Looking for a solid straightforward story line with a picture perfect ending it may disappoint you totally and will be totally lost.Not a movie for masses .
In all I dont know how to sum up this movie, nor to rate this one nor dont know whom to recommend this one.In short this is Royal Tenenbaum for you .
