The Spy Chronicles, is a compilation of dialogues in 2016-17, between AS Dulat, ex-secretary, RAW, and General Asad Durrani, ex-director general, ISI, on various topics including Kashmir, Hafiz Saeed, Kulbhushan Jadhav, surgical strikes, Osama bin Laden, role of US and Russia in the India-Pakistan relationship, terror, impact of the Modi regime, etc. The moderation and compilation has been done by Aditya Sinha. The 320-page, Rs.799, HarperCollins book has been published in 2018. The beauty of the compilation is that it can be read in any or no sequence – the aptly named sections and chapters allow the reader to read what they are most interested in without any lapse of continuity. On the flip side, though Dulat and Durrani were privy to the strictly confidential secrets of their Governments, they reveal little, and that, too, in a roundabout manner. As a result, while those in defence services or government can interpret and enjoy them, the layman is left struggling to decipher the real intent of the statements.
