Never before had I considered suicide so seriously as I did when Cameron Diaz fiddled with her bra and pouted prettily about her breasts not being perky enough. Such scenes are fine when the mammary glands in question belong to someone like Cathy, the perennially dissatisfied and dumpy cartoon character. But Cameron Diaz? What kind of cruel joke is this on normal women?? The dumbass director probably believed that Cameron’s lamentations would have women nodding their heads and identifying with the whole thing the world over. But all it did was reinforce feelings of great low self-esteem that had already been triggered off by the semi-nude frolicking of Christina Appelgate and Cameron Diaz. This scene stood out in my mind for obviously personal feelings of inferiority but it does illustrate exactly how lame this movie is. The Sweetest Thing is purportedly a romantic comedy but what it actually is is an inane sequence of toilet jokes, tit flashes and comic sequences that are invariably connected to penises. You’d have to see the movie to assess whether I’m right or not but as my small contribution to good samaratinism, I’ve already warned u against doing anything of the sort. However, the world is not all bad because this movie is only about an hour long. The story revolves around two women who go on a road trip to search for a dude that Diaz falls for after just one meeting. The moral of the story? Rent ‘there’s something about Mary’ instead.
