Have stayed at the Taj three times in total, twice in the old wing and one in the new tower. The old wing beats the tower hands down. The rooms in the old wing are significantly more expensive than the new tower. I would say that the staff at the Taj can be a bit snooty at times and one was extremely rude to my husband when we arrived for our honeymoon. We are mixed race, and I was shocked to see my husband suffer racist treatment in his own country. However, the perpetrator of this crime was sacked as it wasnt the first time shed had complaints levelled against her.
The included buffet breakfast is more like brunch! The pool, well the pool is simply divine. The pool boys are amazing, and one in particular taught my husband to swim. Lovely young man.
The medical services at the Taj are in my experience, second to none. I developed a massive allergic reaction to some fruit at breakfast (teaches me to eat healthily) and my lip swelled to alarming proportions which I found hilarious, and had to walk about with my hand over my face for fear of scaring the natives (sorry, only joking) but the Doctor to whose room I was sent, was really amazing, the medication was in the hands of the young man who had been sent out to get it, before even I reached my room. The swelling did not abate, so I revisited the Doctor and she gave me an injection and called me no less than 4 times in the ensuing 24 hours to check on my wellbeing. All this for about £10. I was absolutely stunned by the service.
It is my favourite hotel in the world.
