Well this might be a weird way of starting a review but Can you imagine being videotaped in a public washroom in a stall?! Sickening, huh!! Now can you imagine being videotaped your whole life from birth to the day you find out? To me, that is definitely worse than torture.
To realize that you thought you had privacy and confidentiality your whole life and realizing it never existed is nuts! WHAT IF THE WORLD KNEW AND NOBODY TOLD YOU! The thought of that is mind-boggling.
Whats it About and Other Thoughts
This is basically the story of the Truman Show. Truman, a middle-aged man seems to be living a great and normal life. He has his own place, nice car, great job, etc. Throughout the movie, we watch monotonous and repetitive activities from people in his surroundings. The beginning of each new day begins like a clip for a start of a show.
Everyday ..... And if I dont see you ... Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night!
Throughout the movie, we view Truman through a camera lens, tv screens, and even the eyes of some characters. Around his neighbourhood, house, car, traffic lights ... cameras everywhere videotaping and broadcasting THE TRUMAN SHOW
A lady who finds this idea despicable pours her heart and soul into telling Truman the truth about his life but can not bare to tell him because of the shock. Will Truman learn about his life or will it just continue on as the most watched television show. Youll have to see, I wouldnt want to utter any more details to spoil any surprise endings or cool scenes! :D
Overall Thoughts on The Truman Show!
The idea of creating such a movie with one of the most unique ideas displayed on film ever is quite intriguing. The plot never seems to sag, is a combination of drama and comedy and has a great set of acting by Jim Carrey (Truman) and others. You can laugh and cry at the same time in this movie; something that cant be done in most others.
