“The Wedding Planner” – PG-13 – New to Video/DVD
Always the wedding planner, never the bride!
Mary (Jennifer Lopez) is one of the most successful wedding planners in San Francisco. She is all about organization and getting the job done. If she lands this next big account, she will be made partner in her boss’s business.
On her way to work one day to meet the clients of this big account, she nearly gets ran over by a dumpster. Steve Edison (Matthew McConaughey), who happens to be a doctor, saves her. After Mary is feeling better, she really hits it off with Steve. Her friend and associate, Penny (Judy Greer) asks him to join them in the park that night for a movie. Steve agrees and when he is dancing with Mary they almost kiss.
The next day Mary meets her new big clients, Fran (Bridgette Wilson-Sampras) and Eddie. Eddie happens to be a nickname for Steve Edison, the Doctor who saved Mary’s life the day before. She is shocked, but needing this account she puts her own feelings aside.
Mary’s father (Alex Rocco) wants her to be married. He sends for an old childhood friend of Mary’s in Italy. Massimo (Justin Chambers) is fascinated by Mary and very receptive of this “arranged” marriage. Mary is not! So, who will get married? Who won’t?
“The Wedding Planner” was written by Pamela Falk and Michael Ellis and directed by Adam Shankman. It was a cute look into this wedding planner’s life. Jennifer Lopez was great as Mary, as were Matthew McConaughey and Bridgette Wilson-Sampras. The comic relief was mostly by Justin Chambers role as the Italian on a mission.
What I liked most about this movie is that there were no misunderstandings in the movie. The characters all knew where they stood. This makes for better comedy when they all speak their minds. I liked this movie for its romance and laughter. If you don’t care for romantic comedies, then please don’t rent this movie. It is a romantic movie about finally coming out on top. I would recommend it to men and women alike who enjoy light comedies with great actors.
Enjoy!
