We planned a weekend trip to Ooty from Bangalore(Sep 2009). We were 5(bachelors) and booked 2 luxuary rooms. We had booked the room through phone from Bangalore.
While booking the hotel we had asked them to send an Innova to pick us from Ooty busstand and we will pay 200 for that. Friday night we started from Bangalore and reached Ooty early morning saturday it was raining it ooty(not heavily) . We called the hotel noone is picking.tried 15 mins in that rain noone picking the call. Atlast Mr.Azhar picked(he is the one we were dealing with for reservation) and told us he will send us the can rite now. We waited another 15 mins noone came called again the phone was engaged or noone picking. Atlast again Azhar picked and we expressed our anger(standing in the rain for 30-40mins wid 2 umbrella u know how we should hav felt) and we demanded if you dont send us the vehicle in next 5 mins we gonna cancel hotel booking (we havnt paid any money so far).
Eventhough we told that atlast we decided to get a taxy and go there as we were not in a mood to search for a new hotel. We hired an Omni for 150, On the way to hotel Azhar called again and told ur vehicle is waiting in front of Ooty busstand we told we are already on the way he was not happy. We reached hotel and Azhar apologise to us as he saw we are in a mood to kill him(5 guys wet in rain cant expect better). But believe me the overall experience in this hotel was better than this welcome treatment we got.
Now about the room.i dont think many other hotels in Ooty can offer a view similar to this hotel.it was awesome. we got the room in top floor that make the view perfect. Valley, hills, trees, clouds, rain, grass fields, cows almost everything u can see from the room.
They got a huge window so it can act as a perfect frame for ur photos with that background. Toilet was average and the bathtub was not in a usable condition(main reason to go for luxuary room was enjoy the cold climate in bathtub wid hot water) that was dispointing we complained but no use. So pls avoid luxuary rooms from this hotel. The towels we got in the hotel was not so neat. Inside the room furnitures are good and it gives you a wooden feeling as flooring and partially walls are in wood. But the breathtaking view from the room compensate most of the problems atleast for me.
Now about the food..Complementary breakfast was available for 4 people we bargain a lot for BF for 5 but they havnt agreed and we paid 150 extra that also limited BF. break fast was taste but very limited.not enough if you are hungry. Lunch we had from outside and Dinner was event ful. We orderd dinner to room and brought liquor from outside so it was typical bachelor party in the night. Food was taste eventhough it was comparitivly costly) atlast restaurent manager came with the bill and they hav added many things that we havnt orderd(may be they guessed we are drunken so cant identify) and I am sure it was intentional. we had a fight with this guy and he corrected the bill. We told we will pay the bill morning but he insisted to pay night itself. We paid him and not given him single ruppee as tip. So beware of this trick of Willow Hill.
About the location .it is 2-3Km away from city so calm enviorment. They dont have a proper parking for this hotel.
This place is really cold in the night. There is hotel called King Cliff just infront of WIllow Hill so better to have ur dinner from there. They offer live music in the restaurent in season. You can walk through the road in the evening. There is no shops available close to this hotel so make sure you hav all necessary things on board otherwise u hav to go to ooty city for that. They have only less than 10 rooms so it wont be crowded in hotel anytime I guess.
They were very helpful in arranging the tour. They will get you vehicle to roam in Ooty and Connor . We arranged ourself got it cheaper than they offerd.
Another bad experience I had was I asked reception to charge my ipod but they were not ready even though they hav a computer in managers room. In staff Mr.Azhar is kind of ok but reception manager and hotel manager was not that gud.
Even these guys were more interested in Tip than service. While closing the bill the guy in reception told he dont hav change(another trick to get tip I felt). We had given him the balance as tip. Next day morning we vacated and went to Connor. Hotel staff was helping us in taking pictures and stuff like that. We paid the money they mentioned in the website not exactly rememebr the figure. There is nothing much they offer other than bed, food and travel assistance.
